I work at a store in the Mid-West that uses the Indy DC. When unloading the truck and working repacks these past couple of weeks have been very interesting, but today was definitely ridiculous. We had repacks marked with EVERY number on the sticker, had repacks that weren't marked at all, and everything in between (although all of the boxes marked 13 were correct). It definitely made it an interesting day because the folks who work the line couldn't open all of the boxes to see what was inside (and in most of them, there was a little bit of EVERYTHING), and those who break out Health/Beauty, Softlines, and all the other repacks are nowhere near each other in the store. In the past couple of weeks, it really didn't seem to make that much of a difference, but it definitely made today a much longer day than it should have been.

Does anyone know what is going on with this particular Distribution Center?

The thing is, is that 6 months ago, we weren't getting repacks like this. There were very few errors. Now.....totally different story.

I think I read something about repacks changing. Like there were going to be less zones for repacks or maybe more repacks or something like that. I don't think it was for all stores though. It was around the same time the new Instocks process dropped.

Recently in my RDC, and very likely in others, they have allowed temp workers to be packers. Not that they all do shoddy work, but many of them really don't care or pay attention to detail as much as the TM's, since they know they are doing the same work for half the pay.

wait, warehouse packers make twice the minimum wage?

Sorry, I made a broad generalization of the DC pay. Most of us warehouse workers (OB, IB and Warehouse) make ~17-20/hr (depending on state). Packers only make 12-15/hr, but it is still more than the temp agency pays, which from what I've been told is ~9-10/hr.
