Instocks is supposed to have a hip printer - we only get one, but it can be shared.Flex labels are not tied, but if they are an active item a good IStm will know to check to see if it is the only facing (since the item that is flexed should be right next to the "replace label" item. If it is, it should be researched. Active items should not be sitting in the backroom and they should be researched to trigger replenishment. Store tie is still an option, but there are rules... side caps should not have store ties.

Curious as to what you do when it says "replace label" if you are not replacing the label.
We don't have a hip printer so we are instructed to cover the label with a white blank label and face out the product left to right. I am specifically talking about placing a flex label not next to or near the original product, for example nop items. If the original label you are using as a replacement has the correct number of facings you will screw up your metrics by researching it...assuming they are still keeping track of critical lows. Who the hell knows what they want anymore when they keep changing the focus every 5 minutes.

I had a conversation with someone a couple of weeks ago who told me the new IS process was leading to a big change but would neither confirm nor deny VIPER.

From what I heard on here on VIPER, I actually like it. Though I don't know how our store would operate it. We are such a ULV store with a skeleton sales floor team (not including specialty teams out on the floor) they sometimes have no one on the floor, not even the SrTL sometimes. They would have to give us more payroll and hire TMs specifically for the floor.

This seems like something that would work at the old Target of 10 years ago when team members were mostly full time, well trained and stayed around for a long time. Today when training barely exists and hight turn over of team members who work 10 hours a week and just do not care, this sounds like a disaster in the making. It is amazing how much time and money they spend rolling out programs doomed to fail because nobody in HQ seems to have indea what it is like in the stores.

You've hit the nail on the head! I think Target is seeing a higher turnover in TMs these days due to way too high expectations, not enough pay, and constant stress and frustration. I actually had a TM who quit once tell me, "It isn't fast, fun, and friendly anymore."

I already do this a lot in Pfresh so I don't think it would really affect me much.

Also, the only thing that is left from "Fast, Fun, and Friendly". is Fast.

If they bring this forward as an actual thing, they need to bring back specialists.

If target brings this Forward as theee
Labels are the least of my worries.
Does anyone have any new information on VIPER? I think if it's going to happen, it's going to happen at the start of the 4th quarter.

Although this would be funny.

I think it would be part of AE2015, and stores would be structured around it.

Although this makes sense, so ya probably not.

I think this is actually going to work. I think the BEST option is a fully functioning accumulator that will pull product "just in time" for us so we do not have to manually walk the floor for outs, however if Target is not willing to invest the time and training to accomplish that, VIPER is the next best thing.

I believe Target actually had this in the works the whole time. I mean they rolled out MyTime, 4x4's, and renamed all the TLs on the floor as "Salesfloor Team Leaders"... I think we are going to continually see changes that support this direction.

Instocks team at my store just got told we have been cut to minimal hours, so sales floor can own the instocks process. Instocks might get 20 hours total. So yay, I get to scramble to find a team who needs me. :(

We've been under minimal hours for a while. It's been an epic disaster. Does your store do a push all unload? I think they figure that was going to keep the store filled. SF doesn't shoot outs. ETLs and TLs try, but really have no clue what they are doing. 4th Quarter is going to be a nightmare.

My store doesn't even have a IS team. It's sad really. They keep saying that's it's one of the most important teams in the store and it is literally the last thing on anyone's mind. I'm about the only one who cares and I start on it and try to do as much as I can. Mind you I'm on other teams so I can get too behind on my current workload. The back room TL said he would love to see me being a IS TL but ULV, won't happen.

@beardless @Logistics Gal @logisticsismygame @OhYouDidntKnow or anyone else out there, does anyone have any new info involving the Viper process???

I know there was originally 3-4 stores testing this out, I'm wondering if they started testing this out in more store??

Maybe it's just me, but I think this is the most interesting thread, just because it could dramatically change the way Target operates it's day to day processes. I think it has a lot of potential as long as it's executed properly and I do agree that you don't completely scrap the accumulator but it definitely needs a huge make over and I don't mind getting rid of the automated replenishment.

I haven't heard anything. 4th quarter coming up soon though and I don't see how we can only be researching 3 days/week during that time.

Viper starts for my store next week. Everyone lost tons of hours and people are pissed. Today we had some higher ups come in and talk to us about it and our team bitched up a storm already. We have two 7 hour shifts a day, everyone's showing as hardlines on schedule at the min (Flow,Backroom,Instocks and old hardlines) 90% of us got 28 hours (4x7) an elite few got 35. Pog people may have weeks with no hours or weeks with 40. All the people that made less than flow got raises to equal out regardless of ability. The people that are experienced enough to pull off viper are losing hours and leaving. Since there is no hours for training i see this turning into a lot of fresh hires "winging it". Even now, most of us do not know every aspect needed to make this work.

I do get the idea behind having people take ownership of an area but of course suspect target will expect more and pay less.

Yeah I could see people not knowing how to pull, asking those that do know how to pull and those that don't know sales floor getting help from the sales floor crew making it even.. But people like me who can pull off the sales floor and backroom details are pissed and probably not wanting to share..

How far in advance did they notify you that you were making the change? Is it a pilot or is it permanent?

Honestly, some people are just better suited to the BR. While others are better on the sales floor or as a cashier or flow.

UGH. Very few can shine in all the areas, much less have the drive. I can think of quite a few top performers who'd get tired of working under Viper, and in the BR lifting heavy stuff up and down ladders. I can also think of a few great BR team members who'd probably quit if they had to deal with sales floor stuff all day.

Yep it's a two week notice from me.. And my store just had our In-Stocks hours gutted..

I can say that I actually enjoy super zoning and enjoy doing flexible fulfillment. Guests can be annoying, but so are BR location checks.

Same here, instocks hours demolished. Research pulls not timed. And now these raincheck post it pads. I hope they are getting ready for Viper because it sure looks like Instocks is going away.
