Well, I'm a guest now. My new TL position wasn't a good fit for me; there was nothing open at my old store, and I wasn't going step down only to commute 45 minutes every day to be a team member, so i put in my notice. It looks like I'm going for a degree now. ;) I'll probably still browse the forums, being the internet junkie that I am haha.

Starbucks.
Every exec i had the ..pleasure.. of meeting was so convinced that food was going to be my area, even though I always responded with a firm "My interests and passions are actually in loss prevention and guest experience." ... But they offered me a SBTL position anyway and at this point I felt like if I didn't take it nothing else would be offered; so I did.

But, driving a lengthy commute for a job I have no interest in wasn't worth it. Especially considering the town I was driving to was in the complete opposite direction of the area I actually wanted to move towards. Needless to say I'm not working out my two weeks, considering I don't really have a future with target after doing that & I have other old retail jobs I can go back to, if it gets to that point..

Ouch, sorry it worked out that way, but hopefully it'll turn out to have been for the best in the long term.

I think it will. It'll be easier to stay focused on getting a degree if I have a job I don't take so seriously.

WTF did they send you 45 miles away for? I would have turned that one down ASAP lol.

I'm so jealous of you. I'm waiting to hear back from a job that's going to get me out of this place. Best of luck in your new adventures!

Congratulations, mind me asking which company?

JCPenny! The job title is "loss prevention lead" which translates closest to a combo of SrAPS and APL. It seems like every store and field manager I talk to has a different name for me lol

Edit: I'm finding it very difficult to un-brand myself, so pardon any titles, positions, etc etc that I may have screwed up

That's awesome! I just started AP with Target on Monday. I am finding it hard to change my mindset to the AP style, I guess it will come with time though. CIHYFS is just so embedded in my brain it's almost embarrassing....

Good luck with JCPenny....

I once had a job interview with JCP a few years ago.

I had applied for a sales associate position, but when I got to the store for the interview, the LP Manager was conducting it. I didn't think anything of it, thought he was the manager on duty or something and was doing the interviews.

He conducted the interview as if I had applied for an LP position.

"You know, we racially profile here... Does that bother you?"

"We routinely have to work off the clock here, are you still interested?"

"Would you be willing to get injured for a watch? Would you be willing to die for JCP?"

Now I was 18 at the time and was totally confused as to what as going on. It wasn't until towards the end of the interview did he realize that I was the wrong candidate (we had both had the same first name, but the other guy was due after me) and I realized I was getting interviewed for LP. Guy was very.... strange. Police academy flunkly I thought.

@bullseyekindaguy Yeah, our policies and practices are very, questionable... Without going into details, LP here is far less defined from a corporate level than it is with target. Basically the policy is "make sure we aren't liable when sh*t goes down." It's also VERY internal-investigations focused since I'm technically part of district-wide LP management and our area has a lot of problems with that..

Good luck with your new job. Sorry you didn't get into AP at Target, I think you would have done well.

Stay safe out there!
