Hi everyone! I have another question about the DC. How flexible are they with time off? Like when it's not busy season is it easy to get a day off, or even a week off for a vacation (non paid)? I've worked for other companies that are very easy going with getting non-paid time off when it's not busy season, and I've worked for companies that were very strict about not giving time off. I'm hoping Target is very flexible.
Thank you in advance!

If they don't have a need for ya they tend to be more then happy to let you go.

Hmmm VLE , hurts so good.

Yea, if there's not enough work and too many TM's, or if we run out of work in the middle of shift, they'll flex people off to go home. You can back fill those flexed hours with vac/ph hours, if you wish. As for a full week off, non-paid, that would only happen if you signed up to flex during a week where there's almost no work to be done (ie right now or Jan-Apr) or during mass vacation signups you choose not to allocate vac/ph hours.

BTW, as a fair warning, they don't flex seasonals or new hires (before 90 days are up) unless as they have absolutely no choice.

Thanks for all the info! I'm more interested about scheduled time off. Both mine and my wife's families are out of town so we have to take time off to go and see them. How many vac/ph hours do you get in the first year or after you have been there for over a year? What are mass vacation sign-ups? Is that where the whole DC shuts down for a week? And how many mass vacation sign-ups do they have a year? Thank you so much for your help and sorry for all the questions!

It's a weird way it works, but your vacations are scheduled during mass vacation sign-up. Mass vac is done usually around the end of Jan, and you get a piece of paper stating how many vacation hours you have to allocate (or not, if you choose) towards vacations, and you sign up for whatever time during the year you want to use for vacation (I think the max is three work weeks in a row, but I maybe wrong). If you happen to sign up during a time of year when lots of people sign up (Q4 holidays, sometimes in the summer) they'll dish out vacations based by seniority. So unfortunately, you have to plan all your vacations at the start of the year. The good news is, once set, you got that vacation set in stone. Pro-tip: With the way a lot of DC shifts work, you only need to put in one day (1st or last day of your work week) to effectively have a 4 or 5 day-long vacation, so you can string several small vacations in with one or two big ones. And no, the DC is always operating 24/7, except for Xmas day and inventory day.

And about vacation hours: I believe you accumulate somewhere around three work weeks of vacation hours in a year. You'll get more when you work OT and also if you have a certain amount of seniority (5 years, I think). If you work New Year's, Memorial Day, 7/4, Labor Day, Thanksgiving or Xmas, you're eligible for PH. To get it, I think you have to work the shift before the PH day (ie not calling in), and the first 6 hours of the shift the day after, or something odd like than in order to bank the PH hours.

You get an extra week off for 5 years another extra week off for 10 then not another until 25 I do believe. I wana say you get 2 PH days per week you gain but I'm not positive. Also you get 10 hours of vac for working a holiday and I think just a normal amount of PH but like you said you have to work to earn it. However, you can work the day before OR after to earn that time, the catch however is the vac time you earn is based on the lower of two numbers, the hours worked that pay week or your average hours. AND yes you're correct about calling in any of those two days will result in no holiday pay, unless its accounted for time, VLE, leave of absence, NS, FMLA, and I think thats it lol. This has been a very important issue at my loc : p
