So i have been signed off as a TL, and I have been actively looking at stores that have TL positions open and I noticed that some TL positions are a paygrade 11 while others are paygrade 13.
For example when i looked at store A their sales floor TL and GSTL are at a paygrade 13, while store B has a GSTL and Pricing and Presentation TL position at a paygrade 11.
I was wondering whats the difference between them besides one is a higher pay. should I go for paygrade 13 or do first time TL's get put on paygrade 11?

Probably either a mispost on the HR's part or the store is desperate for TLs so are allowed to start at PG13?

It definitely varies from store to store. In my district, GSTL's are PG11, while every TL other than APTL is a PG13. Not sure why GSTL's aren't paid as well as other TL's, I see them running around just as much as everyone else. But the front end kind of gets the short end of the stick anyway.

TL used to get PG13 when they got promoted. From my understanding, they changed starting TL PG to 11. Those already at 13 got grandfathered in, but all new TLs started at 11. It may be because an older PG13 (hah) left - and their position (not necessarily PG) is posted, but if you're new, I'd imagine you'd start at PG11.

Why am I under the impression that a pg13 is a senior? Is it just just my store?

I think if someone is hired in as a team lead, they start at pay grade 11. In-store promotions go to 13. I could be totally off , though. Licensed pharm techs, for sure, are pay grade 13 as well. Non-senior key carriers are pay grade 15. Seniors are 17. Why they don't like even numbers, I have no idea.

I am recently promoted to a GSTL, new team lead for me. But I am only receiving a $2 pay increase from $8. I feel way underpaid for the amount of work load I have. What is pay grade 11?

How long have you been there. even I think that's bogus. I've been flow for 2 years, Started at 8.50 and now I make 10.20. and im just a tm

N11 is base pay + $2. N13 is base pay + $3. It doesn't do a whole lot of good to compare actual dollars on here since base pay is different depending on region, market, and store...and most all raises are merit based, so people at the same pay grade can make drastically different rates depending on a the situation.

TLs are 11, 13, 15. Seniors are 15, 17.

Before going to senior, I was an N15. Afaik pg15 is no longer given for any tl positions.

15 is a key carrier. 17 is the actual pay grade for senior. The only real difference would be LOD duties.

11 is new TL. I don't think we hire Flow TL's at 11 still.
13 is "established" TL. Can be a key carrier, based on position.
15 is "awesome" TL. Limited number of 15's per district. Typically this goes to "best in position". Example, there will be 1 15 Plano TL, who will be the TL trainer for the district. 1 15 Electronics TL who will be the trainer, etc etc. Can be a key carrier, based on position.

17 is senior TL. *IS* a key carrier with LOD responsibilities.

The paygrade difference between each position is typically about a dollar. In some markets, getting a key also gives you an extra dollar an hour for the extra responsibilities. Note though, the responsibilities between a 15 and a 17 are vastly different and I've heard plenty of TL's say that the dollar or 2 difference is not worth it.

Weird, pretty sure PG11 isn't used at all here for TL positions. When I look on eHR for openings the TL positions say PG13 right next to them.

Well I was told no negotiating but another team lead hired a few weeks prior to me was able to negotiate. I'm feeling discriminated. I am and white and this person is African American. Why were they allowed to negotiate? I have only GSA. Experience and no management but have retail experience. I was told only management experience negotiated but this other person has only team member and no management experience.

It's not about race. They obviously like the other person more.

I hat to say this, but we start all new team members out at $10 after a recent bump in the starting wage at our store. Still having problems hiring quality team members. I think if it were not for that they would be looking to bring us to TL head count (currently 2 over).

People who are hired outside of target get paid more than team members who are promoted within.
