So recently, I transferred to a higher volume, Super Target a bit farther away from my house. I just started over there 3 weeks ago on October 5th. The store is very awesome, the team is very driven and the leadership has a focus on exactly what they want and how they want it.

Now to my question(s): I did put in an application for a GSA position at the store (they had let one go and had one put in his two weeks. They have long since filled one position) The SR GSTL came to me and told me to put in an application. I am currently the only one who has so here is what I am asking.

I have heard rumors that there is a 90 day probation when I transfer that prevents me from doing such. Those of you in SRTL or ETL positions or know of any such information, is that true? Am I really wasting my time? I figured they wouldn't interview me if they were wasting all parties' time.

Since I actually do have my interviews (One with my SR. GSTL and the other with my ETL-GE/Salesfloor, what is it like? What questions can I expect and/or what are some tips you have for me to use in these interviews.

A backstory, I was seasonal two years ago as of November 12th. I hired straight into electronics and was 1 of 4 people kept (I was at a ULV store). I have been in electronics for this time and have wanted to move up mainly to focus on guest service so I have pushed my AAR further up as well heading toward the 90% mark.

Thanks!

2 things, 1) only 90% AAR? I am at 120 so far! I am just kidding 90% is hard to come by with a lot of people as guests do not see that they may really need what we are offering, especially if you are a low volume.

Back to the topic at hand, expect questions like what would you do in this situation? Tell me about a time when you worked as a team. Basically the kinds of questions that you would be asked at the hiring interview. Just a little more towards GS. I hope this helps.

I wish I was able to pull off above 100% at an ULV store. I was on Educational leave for 3 months so me pulling 75% out was a feat in itself. When I transferred, they were super impressed with my numbers coming from an ULV store.
And I just wanted to verify. My ETL-HR is cool and said similar, but Idk who I can trust/who is knowledgeable at my store yet.

Yep...definitely all "tell me about a time" questions. You can either gear it towards stuff you've done at Target or stuff you've done outside the store. I don't see why you couldn't promote after transferring.

Just so you know, GSA is the same paygrade as electronics, so there's a good possibility you might not see a raise out of this.

I heard that as well, but from what I understand (at least maybe down here in my state) a friend of mine was making the same amount as myself, same amount of time, moved up to GSA a few weeks ago and got a .75 cent raise. All depends I guess.

The only thing I heard was some BS about having another 90 days type of thing which prevents me from doing things. I doubt it's true hence why I asked anyway. Probably just hesitant to promote me since I've only been there 3 weeks.

maybe a few references from my former ETL's and SRTL's from my last store will help?

I think that what you said earlier in that they would not be interviewing you if they had no intention of promoting / transferring you. I thing that they would realize that it would be a waste of time. I think that by them giving you the interviews. they are either bypassing that restriction or there is not a restriction. I am not sure on which. I think that with a 3 month LOA, that is a great AAR! Nice Job! Also, I think that if they are hesitant, that it may help with the references, but otherwise you should be fine.

As do most things at Spot, I think the 90-day probation period for transfers just depends on the store you transfer to. I was hired at my current store after being away from the company for 3 years (so I was technically a new hire), and stepped up to GSA within 3 weeks. Granted, I had done it before and nobody else had applied.

It's also possible that the 90 days is referring to "promotions," which the GSA position is not. Yes, it's PG7, but you're still classified as a team member.

In theory GSA shouldn't even be a $0.75 raise over cashier, let alone over Electronics.

Umm...can you clarify what you mean by this? Do you mean because the paygrade is technically only 50 cents over cashier or that GSAs are overpaid?

I didn't mean they don't deserve $0.75 over cashier, just that the raise officially is only $0.50, so $0.75 over electronics seems super unlikely.

Well I had one interview then sat down with my ETL about the situation.

She said the position was technically an extra position and she is hesitant to fill the spot at the moment since they are at head count. On top of that she is hesitant about me as of yet due to only starting over there like a month ago.

I am fine with all of this tbh. I expressed my interest of wanting to do interview prep for TL interviews down the line so I am gonna ride out 4th quarter and see what goes on in good ol' electronics :)
Thanks for the help yall!
