I would say ask your GSTL what they expect. My GSA's have open availability and work almost 40hrs a week. I appreciate them very much so recognition is always coming their way. Things very between stores so best answer is to ask your GSTL!

You should be able to find the rollout for your store through RedWire. Our store gets them next month sometime. They are still connected to a printer. Whether or not it is a good move. Idk, the ipods never worked when we first got them!
Depends on the need in your store. If your are already on the schedule it is very likely you will be working. Feel free to ask since its training. They may choose to bank those hours or use them for something else.
Just ask your HR Team for a voluntary termination form. It is recommended to complete all your scheduled shifts. Having the option to return is a good thing even if you think you never will!
