    Archived The End is Nigh

We used to have something like this at my old store. The DTL would occasionally pop in unannounced through the receiving doors. Hilarity ensues as the ETLs and above scramble.

Archived Another major change coming to Logistics?

So DC guy checking in (idk how I didn't see this thread before :p). I believe that HQ's endgame of their supply chain overhaul is to have trailers palletized by block, softlines on loaded on z-racks. As of right now, I thinks it's being piloted out of one DC (Amsterdam NY, I think). They're also...

MEGATHREAD End to End team PILOT

Not much more than you guys have already said. I'm not at one of the pilot DC's, so I'm kinda in the dark til whatever rolls down the MN pipeline hits us.

Archived Is there anyone at your store you're in awe of?

If we're extending this to the DC, there's a dude I know... He can do over 880 rack puts in a 12 hour shift. For those unfamiliar with the DC, rack puts is a function where you use a reach truck to place palletized freight into the racks for later picking. For those keeping track, that's...

Archived How many miles do you commute to work?

DC's ~25 mi. away, about 30 min to get there in the late afternoon, closer to 20 coming home in the early morning.

    Archived AE 2017

About this palletized load business, I've heard nothing about this. As of right now, we just do palletized loads for our City/Express locations, and I can tell you, it's a huge pain in the ass and straight-up murder for production numbers. The only way I could foresee them implementing it...

Archived Snow day? What does it take?

DC here. We don't close for snow. We've had days where all but 14 TMs called out due to being snowed-in/horrific driving conditions/etc. Daily operations continued (albeit at a VERY diminished capacity). To put into perspective, our DC is usually staffed around 80-100 TMs.

Sorry, I don't know anything about their DCs.

Archived Final Fantasy Wiz's Engineering Soda(Jones Soda Situation)

'Wiz's Engineering' soda? Shoulda called it a Hi-Potion or Limit Breaker or something. I feel like this is a missed opportunity on Jones' part.

Archived Black Thursday/Friday 2016 War Stories

Mr. smashandthrash isn't joking. This past week at my building, we've experienced both our largest basic label drop (daily accumulator label dump) and largest priority drop (daily label drop for ad items, endcaps, researched outs, seasonal items and constantly-selling freight) ever. Both were...

Archived Any of you TMs ever had sex with an STL or ETL?

Checking the old threads, you're right. Even better, it was actually Putin, not Trump.

Archived Any of you TMs ever had sex with an STL or ETL?

Luna831 was a troll, at least I sincerely hope and pray s/he was. Asking basic questions and not understanding the just as basic answers. Forum flooding. Worst spelling and grammar ever. Forever alone-type rants. Later devolved into all sorts of pro-Trump shenanigans and how Elon Musk is part of...

Archived Any of you TMs ever had sex with an STL or ETL?

I haven't raised my eyebrows this many times in a thread on this forum in quite a while. Now that I think about it......this isn't a Luna sockpuppet, is it?

Archived High turn over = corperate looking at your store?

DC checking in. TM retention has been a long time problem, at least in my building. Solution: Make almost of our new hires 'seasonals' so it doesn't affect actual TM retention. While most of the ones that do make it past their contract period (8 weeks, I think) do get hired to full-time status...

    Archived Halloween at Target 2016

We can (and encouraged to) at the DC. Even have a costume contest during one of our breaks. Almost no one does though, because working at the DC in any kind of costume is just asking for a free ticket to the hospital for heat stroke/dehydration.

Archived Too many Trucks for Your Unload in Your Store??

Upstream Distribution Centers. They're three new buildings that opened up back in the spring. They carry items that are locally-specific, or are are hard-to-forecast items that in the past would of just collected dust and taken up space for months in the RDC. Their freight is repacked in green...

Archived Too many Trucks for Your Unload in Your Store??

I think this might have to do with the UDCs. When one of their trailers gets unloaded, we'll have ~1-1.2k repacks hit our trailers all at once. Get several trailers back-to-back, or close together in one shift, well, you can guess. Check and see how many of those repacks are green. If it's a...

Archived Too many Trucks for Your Unload in Your Store??

Not really though. We're getting in reserve (read: DC backstock) just as fast as we're moving freight out. We've even had to open up new locations just to hold the incoming freight.

Archived Too many Trucks for Your Unload in Your Store??

Well, no one in the DC itself really knows, my bosses included. Our projections come from HQ, so somewhere there knows what's up, but they're keeping us in the dark for now.

Archived Too many Trucks for Your Unload in Your Store??

Reading all of this is quite interesting. At the DC, we've been under the assumption that the stores have been super busy. Right now, we're running volumes like it was November/December. Normally around this time, we get old to go home because there's not enough work; instead, we're in mandatory...
