Our truck was late on Monday night, and did not get in until an hour before store opening on Tuesday morning. I was assigned to help out in toys. We had 4 pallets on the floor at open and four guests are lined up for Hatchimals. I checked the stock and said there was likely 4 on these pallets, or somewhere still on the truck. One of the female guests assured me that we had them, and promptly showed me the Target app which confirmed they were in stock. One of the other female guests said that she was looking at Brickseek and it confirmed we also had 4. I gave a quick look through the pallets to see if I could find the Hatchimals, but a non-descript cardboard box looks like any other non-descript cardboard box. The first female guest told me the box has a yellow label, so I gave a quick glance for the yellow label. Nothing. Then the two guests began scoping out the pallets. An unrelated guest asked me to assist with getting a bicycle off the shelf, so I did that. A few minutes later, I come back, and the two female guests waiting for the Hatchimals have completely dismantled 3 of the 4 pallets of toys. They stacked boxes all over the aisles (it was a disaster because some of the stacks had fallen over). However at the bottom of pallet, was a casepak of 2 Hatchimals. The two women were so HAPPY that they found the Hatchimals. The problem we now had is that there were 4 people waiting for two Hatchimals. My ETL happened to be walking by and I told him the situation. He opened the case and gave the two Hatchimals to the two guests who were waiting patiently, and not scavenging thru the pallets. The two women went absolutely ballistic and demanded to speak to "whoever is in charge" and my favorite, "I wanna talk to the CEO." My ETL told the guests that there were safety issues with guests unloading pallets and making a mess in his aisles - "we can't have our store looking like Walmart", it was said tongue in cheek, but it sure was funny in the moment. He did get serious and said that behavior would not be tolerated in this store and he would escort them out if they wanted to push the issue. He told the two guests they were free to wait for the other casepak to be uncovered on the 4th pallet or balance of the truck if they so wished. This was their warning. I did find the 2nd casepak about 10 minutes later on the 4th pallet, so the two female guests did get their Hatchimals.

The whole situation was handled poorly, besides the final execution by the etl.

Agreed. Our Hatchimals are kept at guest services. I understand your truck came late, but those pallets would've been kept in the backroom if they were known to contain Hatchimals. Also, the destroying of the pallets would've gotten those guests kicked out by AP/any LOD.

This is one of the reasons, even though its unpractical, that pallets shouldn't on the floor once the store is open.
I would agree with that, but we had to get stock on the shelves. Toys, and other areas of the store were decimated from the weekend.

I will never understand for the life of me how some people can be so rude. All over a damn toy. I get that your child wants it and wants it bad ( that is assuming it is for a child and not just for resale). However, life is full of disappointment . If they dont get the toy they will survive .Some kids wont get anything or hardly anything and here some people ( guests) are acting like an idiot over a damn toy. I have a fellow team member who said she just had to have a hatchable cause her little boy would be so upset if he didn't get one . Guess what ...he may be upset but he will be ok ! Life goes on....teach them to be thankful for what they do get and not to worry about they don't. Lastly, if I could say good job the etl I would. We need more like him

This ruined everything right here.

I hope they hatched already.

I work overnight and every half hour the phone is ringing with guests looking for them. Like...NO! GO TO SLEEP! CALL WHEN THE DAMN STORE OPENS!

My AP/LOD wouldn't have let them stay in the store for the 2nd casepack.

I agree the pallets shouldn't be on the floor, our shift starts at 4 it takes anywhere from 60-90 minutes to unload the truck, and our store opens at 7, I really wish our shift would go back to midnight, we'd have plenty of time to get the truck unloaded and most if not all of the pallets off the floor before the store opens, managment please take note!!

We have stopped being nice about it, if you want one get your ass out in the cold and earn it.

This is so true, I tell people if you arent willing to show up before we open you flat out wont get one.

Tell me about it. We tell them to call back during business hours.

Our operator comes in an hour before the store opens. We tell people to call at 6 when she comes in, we let them know if we got anything and if we did they hustle on over.

safety issue? my new DTL makes us leave pallets all through the main aisles, it is so annoying
Seems like a lot has changed since I've worked logistics. When I did it (overnight and 4am process) we weren't allowed to have pallets on the floor once the store opened. Boxes broken out in aisles after opening was also a no-no. It was viewed as both a safety hazard and bad look for guests.

By 6 am we already have a line of 12 people. It's almost Christmas less than 3 weeks.

They don't give a shit anymore. It's cheaper to put up with guests complaints, injuries than pay overnight.
