Is ANYONE having success with accessories these days? My team has tried EVERYTHING and even though we're slightly moving up each week, we're still red. In fact, the entire district is struggling.
Here's my thing though...with the new report and the ADDITION of certain accessories that weren't counted before - shouldn't everyone be doing better?
Any thoughts?
This is coming from someone who is horrible at getting attachments and I really don't know all the rules behind them, so take it with a grain of salt, haha.
Really, truly, I think the biggest thing is to have Electronics team members that are truly passionate about techy stuff. We have a guy who plays video games constantly and he can recommend any game to any boy/girl of any age group. He can tell which system is best for what type of game play you want and what accessories you HAVE to get if you want the true experience of the hottest new game. We have 2 team members like that and they carry our team. Sure, I can tell you that you can get special attachment to put on your controller that I've heard can make your game play better, but they'll tell you why you
need it or else it just won't be the same. They both have 2 or 3 accessories attached to their sales every time I see them.
Aside from replacing your electronics team, you need to really get your cashiers in on it. A LOT of things go out the door at the registers, without the guest ever stopping at the boat or speaking with a team member. At the very least, make sure they are pushing replacement plans on cheap electronics. A lot of guests will get them b/c they are cheap and sound like a good idea. Maybe even have a stack of printer paper at one register to offer to a guest when they buy a new printer.
I think another good idea is to make your entire store more aware of accessories. At huddles, have an electronics team member choose one product and one accessory and show your team how you promote it. A lot of team members have to be back in electronics without actual being scheduled back there...covering breaks, POG team setting aisles, team members just walking by. Sure, all those team members will try to help the guests, but make them more knowledgeable so they won't hurt your attachment rating by "helping out".
