Thanks guys! Out of the 4 people they interviewed 2 were outsiders. The other guy was a TM from my store. What kind of sucks is that we learned just last week that both my ETL-AP and STL put their 2 weeks in so both positions are going to be in flux for a little while.

It's a pretty big deal for me because now I might be able to rent a small apartment w/ my girlfriend and not depend so much on financial aid to pay for college

And thanks for the insight SeniorAP and Evan.

No prob! If you ever want any feedback or advice, just ask. It's going to be hard without an ETL-AP to guide you, so reach out to other TPS' and ETL-AP's for help. Keep asking questions, and never stop learning. The stuff you're going to see will surprise you over and over again.. and when you think you've seen it all--something new will pop out of the woodwork. lol it's a great role! And congrats!

I got the job!

Wow, so never mind that, I am seriously pissed right now...I posted after being told by HR that I was the STL's and ETL-AP's recommendation for the job, and I was again interviewed by another store's ETL-AP because the District APL guy wanted another opinion for some reason. I found out today that corporate or the District APL is going to be filling the opening at my store with another SrTPS.

Apparently the ETL-AP thinks that I would "lack the ability to be that AP force/presence on the floor" or some BS like that, however she had told my HR that my interview went really really well. I don't know how she could judge that from meeting me just once for an interview...I'd say I'm a pretty assertive person and have had to deal with a stepfather who was verbally abusive on almost a daily basis for 6 years...which is probably a bit worse than anything I would ever experience at a Target store, so her assertion is offending and just plain wrong.

I also found out that since my girlfriend works at my store, I wouldn't be able to work there as TPS unless she transferred. Perhaps that was why corporate went with someone else at my store? If so, then I was must have been interviewing for another store that had an opening (whose ETL-AP had interviewed me for the second opinion) the whole time!...And it would have been less hours too, 20 instead of 40.

I feel like they totally screwed me over.

Nope, that's Target. When you're in AP, you can't be dating TM's. It creates a conflict of interest. In addition, it could cause a problem down the line for the company if you begin tipping your GF off about confidential information (not saying you would, but in Target's eyes it's all about liability). The ideal candidate from within either has law enforcement background, or has virtually no connections to anybody within the store other than business relationships. Don't take it personally-- a Sr.TPS would always fill the role in AP over a TM (obvi since they're established). If you really want to get into an AP type of role, check out LPjobs.com and look at other retailers hiring for loss prevention. Hope that helps.

While true, and probably best practice, my store had a tps dating a girl who worked Starbucks (although they later broke up and he got a new job a few months ago, and the other tps was dating the mmb specialist (although they both just got jobs at a different (but the same) company. Then again, my store is full of couples.
