You can do it in one transaction. But the discount doesn’t come off until you scan the temp barcode on the normal total screen. That’s how you have to do it.This could be ASANTS, but our registers will not automatically apply the discount. We suspend the transaction. Do the application, then scan the Red Card receipt bar code to do the transaction with a discount. I screwed up once and didn't suspend the transaction. If wouldn't give the guest the discount, so GSAcouldn't figure out the math for 5%made it right by giving the guest 10% off.
If you were to give them 5% of their entire purchase manually how would you do that? Not the math part but what buttons do you press? I know how to take % off a single item by doing K1..etc. but how do you do it for the whole thing? This could be ASANTS, but our registers will not automatically apply the discount. Do it per item if possible otherwise ask GSTL if you can do target couponIf you were to give them 5% of their entire purchase manually how would you do that? Pretty sure it literally says on the coupon using it to “make it right” (anything other than entire redcard payment system is down) is a termable offense. There's a barcode you can get off workbench that takes 5% off, intended to be backup if the payment system is down or whatever, but when I was GSA we used it a decent amount for "making it right".

Huh I could’ve sworn the last time the GSA used it (1.5 years ago, so may have changed) it said it was termable. Maybe I’m misrememberingit doesn't say it's an offense at all, it just says it's not best practice.
our leadership team decided as a whole that we didn't want to use it for service recovery (nor were we ever supposed to), though, so we stopped doing it. it's literally only to be used when REDcard is having global issues or if the guest's temporary slip isn't working.

If they are declined they still by their stuff like regular, they just won’t get the 5 percent offMy ETL on 'red card 'training' 3+ years ago
"always do the app first. If or when they are approved, they will be happy to buy what you ring up. If they are declined and if you rang anything up, be prepared to put it all back as strays since they aren't buying anything."
I think this, at the very least, 50% accurate based on experience.
My store makes it right and gives it to them for that one purchase but yeahbive never had anyone put stuff back because they weren’t approcedIf they are declined they still by their stuff like regular, they just won’t get the 5 percent off

What I'm saying is, (in my store) I have witnessed many times where the guest would not get approved for the red card and they would just walk out mid-transaction while cursing due to that. SO it is better for us to do the application first to avoid this type of incident. If they are declined they still by their stuff like regular, they just won’t get the 5 percent off
