One of the LODs came up to me and told me that an iPod that had last been signed in under my name had been missing since the 25th. Number one, this was news to me because I literally had no idea an iPod was missing, much less that it was last signed into by me. Number two, she literally said "You signed into it on monday at 4:15" I started my shift at 6:30 so I don't know how that fucking happened or where she got that from. Number three, instead of stating that someone could've used it after me and I could have forgotten to sign out, she immediately went to: you lost it. Number four, she told me to retrace my fuckin steps, how am I going to retrace my steps from a shift 6 days ago?!?!? Now I'm all worried about getting termed, and this is funny because I've almost lost equipment before and panicked about it, but this literally blindsided me.

Just the fact that you weren't clocked in when you supposedly logged into it makes me wonder of that ETL has you confused with someone else. I suppose this is why my store has the sign in/out sheet and a locked equipment room.

Tell them to pull film of you checking it out at 4pm when you didn't start until 6..

I would just like a Mydevice that fucking works. Seven of them this morning all dead as doornails not charging in the cradles. All the others in use or on the ETL-GE's desk waiting to go for repair. And of course I have a killer workload and being In-Stocks there is NOTHING I can do without one.. Nope didn't finish my workload again today.. Getting tired of this crap..

Every fucking day waste 20 min or more looking for a working one.

I always feel like someone should clean the contact points between the sled and the charger once a week, shiz way to dirty to make great contact.

If they try to make you sign anything make them pull of footage of you actually being in the store that early given your shift was off either that or show proof that it was logged into your name at that time, too many discrepancies, just try to be nice about it so it wont ruffle too many feathers.

Ours is people just dump them in the cradles and some just don't work at all.. And people even you label them with a time that "I am charging from 0% ipod and scanner DO NOT TAKE!!!" They still pull them out and try it and dump them back not charging so they NEVER charge.. Hate these people.. Or the people who take them and don't understand that the scanner has a battery in it and refuse to believe that the battery in scanner being dead is the reason it won't scan. It has gotten so bad we have a deal with Guest Services to hide one or two in their cradle so we as In-Stocks can keep trading them out all day.

Yep...we would routinely work with some people to charge them behind guest services.

Yep, I back up now and again and they keep their mouth shut about the MyDevice sitting there.. We don't do enough registry stuff that one of them can't just sit off power for a bit..

Also, that gave one to guest services or the GSA to use for a quick second if they needed to. And then we put it back to keep charging.

Went through 5 myDevices in my 7.5 hour shift the other day. Four of ours flat out don't work at all (won't even turn on), most don't scan, some scan for a while then stop, one has a wonky touch screen that acts up, another scans great but it keeps losing the WiFi connection after it scans. Think we may have two that work the way they should and they are reserved for Pricing. Ended up using the camera on one on Friday. Got my RIGs done and researched table-top and small appliances but was running out of time and was just too frustrated to scan any thing in domestics. Something needs to be done quickly to get new, decent, and appropriate devices into the stores ASAP. Can not wait for the BTS and the question that asks if I have the equipment I need to do my job. They'll probably not include that question this year.

Our equipment room is locked and you have to sign in/out any equipment you get. It being locked is a pain in the ass bc we sometimes have to wait 10-15 min past Our shift just to get someone to unlock the door. Its usually unlocked in the morning so we don't have to wait to get equipment most days. Half the time we come in and the equipment is either not charged at all or only half charged.

Oh and we have been told to always be sure we log out when we turn in equipment. If we don't and someone else uses it under our log in, we are liable for anything they do. If they lose it, or decide to look at porn, we get the blame. Even if we aren't at the store at the time. We had a few team members who were using them to look up porn when we first got them, luckily under their own log in, they were fired for it. We had a whole huddle discussion about not using them to look up inappropriate things.

One reason I like the days I have a flow shift is I don't have to mess with getting any equipment. Just go in, stock, and go home.

I can't stress enough to sign out after your done, though I've actually signed in with my number and it keeps me in the last user so after you sign in, check to make sure it's YOU who are signed. If not, log out and force close the app. I'm looking forward to the 2nd gen myDevices. I hope they move forward on them.

I don't even think signing out does shit. I used a PDA once and signed out and asked a TL where to put it. She told me on the charging docs on receiving. I put it there to charge at the exact same time as another TM and we both went home. Next day I come in and the ETL-LOG is like "where did you leave the PDA you used yesterday?" and I told him, on the dock where I was told to, and another TM did. And he got extremely accusatory telling me "well it's not there and you were the last one logged in" and then the TL who told me to put it there also basically accused me of losing it like "well you were the last one signed in and it's missing now" so the ETL was like "when in doubt, put it in my office" bitch I wasn't in any doubt I put it eXACTLY. WHERE. IT. GOES.

Receiving is covered with multiple cameras. If they really want to know who took it, tell them they should check the footage,

Also, if you don't sign out, the next person to use it will see your entire TM number. Apparently, HQ thought this was OK. After all, what could anyone do with your name and complete RM number?o_O

I will not use the camera to scan, I have done more than enough BS to get these pieces of crap up and running. Scanner doesn't work, Rigs don't get shot. I have told our DTL as such.. He didn't seem to be surprised that we are having major issues with these pieces of crap.

Gotta pop them open to check the battery, if there is a rattle you need to pull out the metal shield rattling around inside. Next step is new cradles as those begin to fail real quick. Also making sure people turning in their equipment is checking for the blinking green light. Damn things need to charge and a full ipod doesn't mean a full sled.

People making sure they are charging? Half of them including myself can't see the green light cause the cradles are on a top shelf, not possible , so that gets a pass. We have has them what a year and a half now? A full year for sure in my store. And we have people who don't know the sled has a battery. New cradles, ordered three months ago, still waiting. Charging cable? Never arrived.

I had one abandoned in my desk the other day...signed in as someone not even working in the last three days...starting to wonder if there's a glitch there...

irrc it takes 6 full hours to change both the ipod and sled and the thing only charges off 5w to change both batteries meaning it's a slow 500ma charge instead of using both 1amp to both the sled battery and the ipod to charge both of them at the same time quicker. Essentally they never get charged if your store is overnight or 4am flow. Let alone issues with contacts being dirty or the sled batter being loose and not charging.

Where do you pop it open? I have one that is rattling but I couldn't figure out where to open it. I was going to call tomorrow to get it replaced.

@FredPanda3 Do you guys sign out your devices at your store? You should be, so have them pull up the sheet from the 25th and look at who had that device that day. If they don't have that sheet, then that's their problem. If no one signed it out, and you know it couldn't have been you who took it, it's time for leadership to crack down on equipment.
