Kodak was unable to keep up. Their patents have most valve right now. Sad event anyway.

We lost send out service last year, and things can only go downhill from here. After loosing sendout service, we dropped hours from 9-9 to 12-6. This is why I'm trying to get out and expand to a GSA spot.

Maybe this is why kiosk support has been refusing to answer their phone the last couple of days. We have a busted flatbed scanner but I guess that's a moot point now.

If I remember on Saturday, I'll try to get you the number that directly calls level 2 or 3 support. Don't ever bother with level 1 if you know what you're doing.

Already checked off. I used to be the Electronics Specialist when that was around. Also did my fair share of work on the sales floor and cashiering before then. I even have a degree in Video production. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be much here in the Northeast, at least from what I'm finding.

This is really lighting the fire under my tush, though.

That would be awesome, but no biggie either. We also have the rapid print scanner which works GREAT, some guests just prefer the flatbed because no matter what I say they are afraid the rapid print scanner will eat their photos.

Looks like the tech that came in to fix our other problems actually ordered another flatbed for us, since I just installed it yesterday! (works like a champ too). I really hate that photo is more than likely going to go away, it was where I was first trained at Spot and it still holds a place in my heart (hah!)

We've pretty much turned into a copy & print counter any way.

I just wonder if we will switch to Fuji, guests are going to be pretty pissed if we have NO WAY of processing digital orders anymore.

If we tried to go the Fuji route I think they'd just point n laugh at us seeing as we ditched them last year in favor of all Kodak labs instead of a mix of both. Theyd say hahahahahHahahahaha look at you guys, shoulda stuck with us you big bunch of red assholes lol

Wasn't the Fuji thing only a test anyways?

The only experience we have had with Fujifilm at our store was the send out service, which in my opinion was very poor. Apparently when the film was developed, the pictures were not looked at by a human eye, it was all computerized. In theory this would work out great, but every other order would have completely grey photos or crap quality photos that no one would ever want to buy. I even had a few rolls come back where the entire roll was just grey.

Did Fujifilm actually do kiosks in some stores?

My degree is in still photography before the digital age.

Are we talking about Kodak as in 35mm film? 35mm film has been dead, it is after all the 21st century. Kodak the company filing for chapter 11 doesn't surprise me either, their digital cameras aren't widely popular, they are entry level digital still cameras. Photo paper will still be needed though even with digital photography, it's still nice to hold a photo. Okay what am I missing here? How will this affect a TM working photo? If photo closes and it won't because there will still be those yellow touch screen things but if it does you work elsewhere in the store.

those "little yellow touch screen things" are Kodak. They are supported by kodak and we can't run them if kodak closes.. also the stores that have wetlabs are also supported by kodak. I'm not too worried about Kodak actually "closing" and i think even if it does we'll get fuji in there to take over. I talked to the kodak tech the other day and he said that they're not having issues in the us it's in other countries where they haven't been as long. They will probably shuffle things around in their company but won't file bankruptcy here.

There are dedicated photo TMs here. I was, until recently. Any store with film processing equipment will have a dedicated Photo lab assistant.

Has anyone heard about the discontinuation of premium paper? I got an email from a sister store who mysupported a question about their lab converting from wet to dry and the answer was that all stores will receive communication shortly on the wet to dry conversion. It also said that as of January 8th premium paper is officially discontinued. You will no longer be able to order it but we will still offer it until there is none left in the DC.

This makes me so sad! I love working in the photo lab! It's pretty relaxing for me.
At my store, photo is pretty popular so in scared to see the outcome of this. If fuji
takes over I'm gonna be very pissed.
