Sales Floor How accurate is the “On the way” date for a shipment on the zebra?

Newer employee here sorry, today I had a guest provide me with the DPCI for a squish mallow and had me look it up. We didn’t have any in the back but it said something like “4 on the way, arriving 2/08”. Is the date provided usually accurate for when we receive shipments?

Sometimes. If it says on the way it does usually show up within a day or two vs items that don't have the date but I won't tell guests they are for sure coming - I tell them to call the morning of to double check.

I believe that it's the system generating labels on the DC side. Whether or not the DC inventory is correct and they have the item is another story. The warehouse could be behind. They could have 5 labels for 5 stores but only 4 boxes so the 5th store doesn't get theirs. Labels get lost and the item never gets sent

Because of shipping delays and stores having to cancel/rearrange truck unloads, it can be inaccurate. I have some seasonal ODL items that say on the way 12/21. It'll get here soon..... probably, lol.

Plus or minus a day or two pre covid... now? Lol. Maybe. That day. Maybe that week... maybe 4 months later like what happened to us about funko pop tshirts

I usually just say that there is a notification that the item is on the way but there isn't any way to tell what date it will arrive due to carrier delays nationwide. Also, mispicks are plentiful (but I don't say that one out loud lol)
