Is it possible for me to try to switch departments in my first 90 days (as seasonal) from Fulfillment to Inbound?

For context, recently l've been being scheduled almost all inbound shifts majority usually 3/4 of my shifts are inbound with an exception of half once in awhile. I know all the Inbound leads way more than most of my fulfillment leads. I believe even the Inbound ETL may know me as I met him before and the Inbound TL that's likes me seems to have mentioned me to him, and also has been telling me multiple times I should talk to HR to fix the system so I can pickup Inbound shifts if I want to, and even if I wanna switch departments to get kept I can talk to HR or my ETL as she has told me when seasonal employees get let go, she'll be trying to put in good word for me to hopefully be kept and she says l've done very well inbound every shift and done good.

I'm pretty sure im basically the only seasonal non-inbound tm always scheduled in it. Should I also talk to some of my fulfillment TLs about wanting to stay and should I bring up thinking about switching? The Inbound TL seems to want me to switch possibly as it seems? I hear they always are short for inbound, but our trucks mainly come around 3pm-10pm. Do yall think it's possible to be kept if I try to switch Fulfillment to Inbound?

Seems like there is a need for inbound. Fulfillment definitely slows down after the holidays as does everything else so knowing multiple areas is good. It won't hurt to ask and as both of them are gm its probably not even necessary. Its impossible to say the leads are supposed to be going over the right-sizing as they call it of the team so they know how many people they need to keep after the holidays. So showing an interest now is a good time.

@seaweed8338 Knowing multiple departments well is a great 👍🏾 thing. Sounds to me that you should be “kept” for either department in more need when the holidays are over and hours are small. Continue to be the best each time you are called upon. You’re off to a tremendous start!!!

I hope I do get kept, but I think I’d have a better chance to be inbound. But the problem is I’ve never met my ETL and only two of four the fulfillment leads actually know know me compared to knowing all the Inbound. How can I go about asking to switch departments? HR? Inbound leads?

Who should I talk to about switching departments? How should I ask/tell the fulfillment leads, HR or Inbound Leads?

Gm etl since he would oversee both, if your in a big enough store that there is more then the one who is in charge or inbound. Hr etl could also be fine but a TL isnt really going to have the power or oversight to make that change.

Follow the chain of leadership. Talk to the TLs and let your intentions be known. Follow up to see if they got with the Inbound/GM ETL about switching departments and go from there.

After the New Year, Fulfillment falls off a cliff, so Inbound is your best bet if you want to stay, unless your Fulfillment leaders have said they're going to keep you. Then, it's up to you.

@HInbound and @MrT said best, follow up. If needed, go asking for answers out of your schedule shift. If you’re scheduled 📅 for 4pm-12am, go in at 🕙, 10am. 10am or 8am 🕗 you are bound to meet up with someone who can answer your questions. You got this
