it so happens that I got my first girlfriend at my first corporate job. She works similar hours to me, so on my 15s and meals I sit in the dinning area and sometimes talk to her. For almost 4 years I've had different TL and AP try to tell me off for talking to her and what I can and can't do on my breaks. That seems wrong, especially on my meal which I am not expected to do anything for them on. Any help is appreciated, thanks!

ASANTS

1. Technically, if you are on your lunch or 15, dining areas are meant for guest availability first during operational hours. TMs should utilize the breakroom.
2. If you are in a same store relationship, keep it minimal while on the clock for professionalism sake.

I worked at a store with lots of couples. Hardlines TLs dating Softlines TLs. Couples both on receiving/flow. They all kept it professional and only talked work while on the clock.

At once upon a time, it was fine to take a break in the dining area but not anymore.
Not sure it was ever against the rules at my store. (Last remodel, Food Ave went away and we didn't get anything to replace it - the area is used now to keep OPU orders ready to go.) But other than not having to trudge up the stairs to the break room, it wasn't a very nice place for breaks - the chairs where uncomfortable and it wasn't exactly noisy, but it didn't feel like much of a break so near the check lanes and the store entrance doors.

Agree with everyone's admonitions about keeping it professional.
