At my store they were clear the paper checks were still an option, but touted the benefits of the paycard, if direct deposit isn't a good option, as something that gets reloaded for you automatically, and you get your money earlier than you would get your check.

At my store, they just stapled little notes to all the paper checks saying please sign up for direct deposit or paycard. Nothing was on the note about a deadline, or whether it was a requirement. And I've not heard one lead make an announcement about this, so I guess I'll do nothing for now. Call me old-fashioned, but I really prefer my paper check.
I have direct deposit. I always pick up my stub. My hr told me it was because most people don't pick it up that they stopped sending them. However, you can go back in and start it again. Lucky for me a computer wasn't available so my hr tm did it for me. She also printed out a copy of the week I missed. This is why she gets a Christmas present every year. She is the best!
