Archived Porn leads to SLO Target Evacuation

Ever since we got the new phone system, half of the time they'll hang up the phone in TSC but we'll still be able to hear them. For a while every time the operator answered the phone it would be over the intercom.

I hate when light duty is out in the open.

I can say that this is true, had it happen at my store for 10 minutes there was a porn playing over the intercom until the paging system was disconnected in the electrical room. Someone calls and asks for a specific extension and that gives them access to the paging system.

This reminds me...a couple weeks ago, we had a girl filling in as operator who had never been in that position before. From the story I got, somebody called the store and asked for a specific extension --they didnt ask for a specific department, rather, they told her what extension to connect them to -- and she followed their instructions. Right after, a country music song with a shit ton of cuss words started playing over the intercom and nobody knew how to stop it (god I wish I was there for this shit...of course it was on my day off). Eventually, it did stop, but nobody knows how this happened. Obviously whoever called and asked to be connected to whatever extension was in on it, but I really want to know how exactly they were able to do this.

Man, I wish I could figure out how to do that at my former store!!! I could just see all the "Holy Rollers" covering their ears and screaming as they head for the exits. Lol

If you callforward all to the overhead, anyone that calls the store will go to it if they try and dial operator. Which makes it really fun when someone is trying to call the operator from a red phone. BONG PETS BONG PETS

I say it's fake. I have never been to a target that had elevator/grocery store music playing over the intercom. Never ever ever ever getting back together.

I like the use of the word "evacuation." It implies some kind of panic and makes me wonder just what was playing that would prompt that sort of rush for the exits.

We did too and I don't miss it either. I think it was the flow TL's music choices and it varied from "Top 40" to "Disney songs." 4am was too early for that.

Why would they bother evacuating the store? It seems like that would take quite a bit of time.

First option would be to go into the server room and unplug the phone system. If that doesn't do it or nobody knows which one it is, just go to the electrical panel, kill the power to the whole store, and turn it back on after a few seconds.

From what I understand all the city Targets have music that is tailored to that city.
Seattle was supposed to be playing local musicians according to the article I read when it opened.
I kept trying to picture Lithium or Rape Me playing on the overheads.

We had our intercom hooked up to someone's cell phone call once.. the lady was talking about tampons, no kidding. It was definitely awkward but I can't see target EVER evacuating a store unless it's seriously on fire. Not a minor fire either (we've had one of those - in a bathroom trashcan). There were worse responses when someone left their walkie lying around and some kid grabbed it, screamed "I'm going to f*cking RAPE you!!" over and over into it. That was worse.

Is the extension written down somewhere? Or is it just passed on over the years by word of mouth?

My store also believes there is no way to do it from a phone. The ETL-LOG regularly tells TMs to run up front to make an announcement if he needs to communicate something to a group without walkies.

I think so. I have not tried since I have been on the 4 digit system.

I definitely remember after this happened they disabled overhead paging from the red phones.
