Sick Time and Quitting

Hello, I am a team member for a store in the tech department. I have a question regarding Sick Time Payout. I plan on quitting due to a new job offer that pays much much better. I have been with the store for since late 2023.
I have not put in my 2 weeks notice of leaving and have 32 hours of sick time payout, the problem is that my new job starts very soon. I don't have any hard feelings for target, but what are the legalities and policy on just using all my sick time for the up and coming schedules and then quitting? I have very high anxiety when it comes to things like this.

Stores in different states deal with payouts.

If you already put in your notice and don't already have some agreement with your store...you will be required to work your scheduled shifts. In some states, stores will require to work your last day. If you just leave, at most you will be marked un-rehireable.

Save the Sick Time for payout. Recommend giving up your shifts if anyone is willing to pick them up.

Policy wise, they don't like it but there is absolutely nothing stopping you from doing this. It is perfectly legal because they cannot question your use of sick time. I'd say do it

I've been thinking along similar lines, although my reason for leaving isn't another job. (Planning to retire in the next few months or so.) I have lots of sick time accumulated because I'm hardly ever sick and don't call off "sick" because the weather is nice and I want an extra day off.

Companies in my state are not required to pay out accrued sick or vacation time, so I know it'll just be forfeit if I don't use it. I'm using up the vacation time, mostly by supplementing my hours to get to 40 each week. But the sick time will probably still just be sitting there. I also have anxiety about using sick time inappropriately, and figure it's just not worth it.

Although, now that I think about it, the music that's now store-wide gives me a headache most days so it wouldn't be as far-fetched as it would have been.

Don't quote me on this but I think if you are retiring, Target might pay out any unused vacation and sick time. Might be worth looking into. We had a TL retire a few years ago I could swear she told me they were paying out anything she hadn't used.
