Just curious... How many people are on the signing team at your store? Is there a signing TL? Do signing TMs do adset?

IDK how many are on the signing team at my store. There is a TL who is responsible for the signing schedule, though I believe he's a HLTL. I'm a cashier but I do adset on Sundays.

Our store has:
Me-signing specialist I do the actual overheads abd signs in the store
Ad prep guys-prep the ad and suck up twice as many hours as allotted
Ad set team-usually flow team, maybe some others
I an under the pptl, as are the ad set guys.

We have one signing specialist that does all the In Store Marketing signs, and helps POG with building shippers and displays. Person's TL is the Pricing/Pog TL

And one person that preps the weekly ad signs.

And a bunch of people on Sunday that put up ad signs.

One signing tm= me;)
My boss= presentation/price change/ad set TL
Ad team= truck, price, presentation, and other tm
When hours are low, I do it too.

I'm not 100% sure how the rest of the store works, but we have someone who works in Electronics come in on Sunday mornings and put up the signs for all of Electronics and Seasonal, and if that box if pretty small then they'll do Toys and Sporting Goods as well. We also have a guy come in Tuesday mornings to put out all the new releases.

One signing person per store me:D. Although they use the title on the schedule for other things. Like ad prep and ad set. Or other odd various things. But those are the most common. I would guess maybe if there was a 2 level store? Maybe there might be 2? But I've never seen one so I don't really know the size of it.

One ad prep tm. They say she can sort the ad in like 7-8 hours but I've never seen it done in under 10. But it's usually 15ish.

One signing girl. Does all the other stuff.

Ad set team is usually like 5-6 people scheduled 2 hours. Usually flow, price change, electronics, or a cashier or something.

My signing tm does the end cap audits on sundays before switching to her stuff.

The Tl is the PPTL, also in charge of signing.

2 level store here and we still only have the one signing specialist.

We have one actual signing TM. She does all the ISM as well as ad prep and reports to our plano TL. For ad set, we have a few TMs from pricing, plano, and the sales floor. Last I knew, the sales floor TLs rotated ad set, but I'm not sure if they still do.

Here:

ONE (1) Signing TM / "Specialist" - they really do nothing for ad, NOTHING! All they do is signing in the store, build displays for POG etc.. They belong to the PPTL

Ad Prep = There is two people who rotate this, and a third who is fill in, if there is CO, VAC, schedule conflicts with the other 2.

Ad Take down = Who ever is screwed over to work SF on SAT night. :(

Ad Put Up = My two Flow TM(s) who come in on SUN to do AF, they do ad put in their regular area, then do the AF's ie: If it is a SL girl they do the SL ad, then do AF's with the other TM. The rest of the put up team is a mish mosh of who ever they can get to fill the spots. So if your the opener for SUN in an area, YOU do AD PUT UP for that area. I did for a few years every week, because no one wanted to do it, especially my area, now they have to beg for TM's to do it.

One signing specialist, two ad prep TM's (one for SL, one for HL), two ad setters for SL, and five ad setters for HL.

Level 1 - tm
Level 2 - specialist
Level 3 - tl
Old days of spot.

I am intrigued how does this work??? Where do these TM(s) come from? Do they do other WC's on other days? Hours?

Same here... more details... on this setup... does this ad setters come from other teams??????

Thanks.

I used to do the ad prep. I was a salesfloor TM and the TM who did softlines was a cashier. We were approached by the presentation TL to do it. Generally, they're looking for someone capable of working alone and getting things done.

As for the ad setters, we only have so many people trained to do it, even though it's not hard at all. Generally the same people do it every week, but we have others who fill in when needed. They range from electronics TM, perishables assistant, salesfloor, instocks, etc. Basically anyone willing to come in at 4am, lol. Also the TL's are all trained, as are all LOD's.

As I responded earlier, I'm a cashier/GSTM and I do ad set on Sunday mornings. I overheard another TM talking about it and was intrigued, spoke to HR and the SrTL who was then in charge of the schedule and was scheduled on the next schedule to do it and have been doing it every since (except during the holiday season as only TLs are scheduled during that time at my store).

I more interested in how this "division" of HL and SL occurred.... Our ONE Ad prepper per week (rotated among 2, with a 3rd backup just in case) does it all. How did it get split up to 2 TM and HL/SL... Or is this due to volume?

IF your a B or lower store, I am curious as to how this got implemented v. our arrangement as even with the back up I feel it has areas for improvement.... are these two ad preppers doing JUST this AD PREP? How many hours each? Which days? ANd then work cashier, SL, or HL or something? for other hours during the week?

Trained.. for ad... HAAAHHHAAAAAAA :) ;) It was good thing I knew what went on before I got there.... Not hard, but when I started you still had to scan the ADS on SUN AM before putting up.

You can tell the newbies when the do ad... ads in the wrong places, signs that fall off since they don't take enough effort to smush them to stick..

I have one little diva that thinks they are the gift to ad put up in that area, and whines about anyone doing it, but yet they won't come in for it!

Well that to a point is what it is here... I did it for years, because no one wanted it... It was near impossible to get a RELIABLE group to do it... We finally had to start rotating on/off/on/off for most of them after I moved on. There were a couple of other reasons in re LOG that I was on ad as well... and I got HOURS Baby! HOURS!

The way this read, it sounded like you had a group that did just this ad prep and put up, and nothing else.. Which is fine if that is all the hours that group(s) want... although to me that is a little dangerous. Our ad prepper is a "student" if you call it that but is unreliable if there is some hot bar to go out to etc..

Also the TL's are all trained, as are all LOD's.

Yeah, that mostly is where the problems arise.... ;p Thankfully I don't have to deal with it any more, but I am looking for improvements in all areas. Mainly I want my LOG Flow TM(s) off doing the ad put up and ONLY DOING AF in the AM. A workable system to propose in place of that is needed... but we just don't have enough RELIABLE people to do it.... The only truly reliable ones are mine and they work on/off/on/off to keep their sanity... :) The rest is just scraping the barrel to get suckers....errr.. TM's yeah TM's... :) ;)

My ad prep guys do hl, I have the previous person who does the sl 7x11s. If you don't know sl it's hard if not impossible to know locations, etc. She also sets the sl ad Sunday while everyone else does hl. It's the result of getting tired of it being done wrong and insisting on taking the responsibility backed by the sltl.

@MasterofLOG I'm not sure why the prep is divided other than the SL person spends most of their prep time on the floor remerchandising (if needed) and mapping out the signs. The HL prepper is in a room sorting the signs, organizing, and scanning signs with no location. HL gets about 14-16 hours to prep on Thurs and Fri, while SL gets 7-8 on Fri. Most times they're done early and help out on the salesfloor since that is the workcenter they're scheduled under.

Supertarget here. We get the Hardlines ad prepped in 5 hours on Thursday. Then Saturday someone spends another hour or so doing the ad corrections that arrived Friday. The 7x11s are arranged by "path" and 1 person puts those up Sunday morning.

Softlines is prepped by a softlines brand lead who also sets adjacencies and works the zracks on truck days. She spends an hour at most.

WHY are some of you spending 15 hours prepping??????

Ummm... based on this I would like to know too!!! Because I am starting to sense there is a TREMENDOUS WASTE of hours here.... while not really my WC... I am sensing hour sucking....oh well time to stomp on some toes it seems.

The ad prepper here works like FRI/SAT to do what ever prep is done. It might be THU FRI for the main part, and SAT for the ad corrections. I've never really watched over it.... It is all basketed up and ready for the ad put up team to do it. This one person does it all...For the most part a SL person is the one who puts up the SL ad. I did it when that person CO or NCNS'd or added on when it got huge... not that big a deal.. but then again... I at that time had an advantage as I had set alot of the POG's in SL so I knew where the stuff was...

HL now days other than ELECT is really just throw a body at it.. Sadly.... it works better when like in SL a person who works an area the majority of the time does the ad in that area.. Just you are not going to get those people to do it week after week after week after week for years on years. Most here would rather go fetch carts in the snow going up hill both ways in the parking lot! :) ;)

I did the ad corrections today. It took me 45 minutes because I was training someone new.

We have had the same 5 people do ad set for YEARS. Sometimes when payroll is better we may have 1 or 2 more that help on occasion.
