Number one purchase gift cards with gift cards at self checkout.

Only Visa/AMEX/Mastercard gift cards cannot be purchased with Target gift cards and those cannot be rung at the Self Checkouts...

Hmm but the training book said any gift cards can't be bought with target gift cards.

There's nothing fraudulent about a guest purchasing a gift card with another gift card except in the case of certain 3rd party cards like Visa, etc. which cannot be purchased with a Target GiftCard. In that case, the register will stop the transaction from occurring anyway.

Or they return at guest service hba items after they get get the gift cards and it creates a lot of A block reshop.

This could be a long list so I'll stick to the highlights:
-Decoding coupons (using coupons from safe manf but for wrong items)
-Stashing items on the bottom rack of the cart that the cashier doesn't see/scan & leaving w/o paying for them (most commonly jugs of Tide, Coke case packs because they're close to the same color as the cart)
-Small items, DVDs jammed under infant carriers, jumpseat covers
-Stacking boxes of different items/prices (ie: Lego playsets) but having the cashier scan the top one (cheapest) & entering quantity
-Bringing up clothes with detached clearance tags for the cashier to ring (ALWAYS enter the DPCI from the sewn-in tag)
-putting current shoes in a clearance shoe box hoping cashier will scan the box (ALWAYS scan the attached tag or key in DPCI if no tag)
-Peeling clearance stickers off merch & putting it over the barcode on a non-clearance item.

Peeling barcode off one item and putting it on another. Why we should never use those upc labels. But even if we didn't, they could still print them at home.

Opening the box of an item and then claiming to had found it already open, demanding a 50% discount.

Claiming they drove from another state because your store was the only store that told them we had 1 on hand but to find out we're out of stock, demanding a compensation.

Coupon fraud... you had no intention to use the $300 in HBA products you purchased at another store with each item having a coupon. You're not fooling anyone. Fortunately, I have bosses that won't put up with it.

Our store is so strict on coupon item returns that they don't try anymore. If they see me, a certain gsa or my gstl working they just turn around and leave. It's gotten around their little network who will process what at our store.

Guest asked up front if they could return nail polish. They had their receipt, but not the product, because she had been double charged. She wouldn't have bought two at that price, she kept saying. And it didn't happen at our store.

So the GSA returned a product the guest didn't have.

This really happens! I've had items double scanned before. I'd believe the lady if the two scans were for the same color. Idk if each color has a different dpci but I'm assuming that's the case. I've double scannee by mistake too. Usually I hear it happen, but sometimes no. I hope the one lady came back lol. We had these gk baby shorts with tights attached (but in a way that didn't seem official) but I was off for a while so I'd never seen em and the tights that were included had a fricking barcode on them so I scanned the shorts and the tights. I didn't realize until a day or two later. I still feel bad about that one.

We have the coupon return people. They scope out cashiers and since they shop so often, they know who doesn't pay attention and accepts all coupons and they know who's new so they take advantage of them. And one coupon return lady pretends she doesn't speak English lol.
Me: Can you show me that you have this item?
Her: que?........ Yes I have.
Me: I didnt see it, can you show me?
Then she shows something that doesn't match up and I point that out and she all of a sudden doesn't need it. She doesn't come to my line anymore if I'm on register.

There's this old lady. I try not to make eye contact with her. She makes sure to complain about something on every single shopping trip in hopes of getting a price lowered. I just saw her a few days ago. A toy was in the wrong place and even though she knew it was she wanted that price. She also raised a stink about how she hadn't seen a single team member on the floor until me. They were probably just better at avoiding her. I tried to hide when I heard her voice but I wasn't fast enough. I dumped her on the stl who was covering gstl at the time.

I'm electronics, not Guest Services (maybe this doesn't count?), but I had a guy attempt to buy an Xbox One (or Xbone for those nerdy/gamer TMs out there) with super fake (they didn't even feel like real money) $100 bills. I ended up calling the LOD at the time (who is our STL and a pretty tall and tough looking guy), and the guy trying to scam the store ended up taking his "money" back and told me that he'll spend his "money" elsewhere. I was kinda shaken up by what happened for a bit since I didn't know if he would come back and try to rob me upfront or whatever (which thankfully didn't happen), but our main AP guy who I'm pretty good friends with was watching the scammer and his friends (one of which apparently used a fake $100 to buy something else at the front of the store) was super happy that the transaction didn't go through, which calmed be down a bit.

Aside from that, the only other real 'incident' with a scammer was a lady trying to buy a bunch of electric razors with a few fake $70 off coupons. I told her that I needed to call the LOD over to approve it since it was a big coupon, but she gave me a total b***hy attitude and left without paying. I gave a heads-up to the GSA (since we didn't have any AP/TPS that night) about her, and the GSA told me later that night that she ended up leaving her cart of razors/toothbrushes without paying. However, the only real reason I got suspicious was because the night before, some other lady did the same thing to me and I let the transaction go through. I didn't think anything of it until the LOD and AP (who is the same guy as my first story) told me that those were fraudulent coupons shortly after. I was kinda expecting to get fired that night, but they reassured me that I didn't do anything wrong nor was I in trouble and to keep a look out in the future (which I obviously did and will do for as long as I can).

Your suppose to call fbi if there is counterfeit money.

Your suppose to call fbi if there is counterfeit money.

No, we are not supposed contact them. you are supposed to call your gstl or ap for guest assistance.
YOU notify your store leadership.
If it's a pattern (ie: group working the area), your AP will notify Secret Service. It's THEIR domain, not FBI or even U.S. Treasury.
Been there & done that back when I was still CO specialist.

No wonder the fbi can't get counterfeiters .
