No kidding. Literally anywhere else, they have someone from the relevant department come to the lanes to pick it up immediately. They check the temp and make the call whether to toss it or restock.

Up until a few years ago, that's what we did too.

That's how grocery stores do it too. Was kind of a shock when I came to Target. I assume they figure it's cheaper to toss than to put it back. But damn it's a huge waste.
