Archived Unpaid time off or LOA?

I plan on taking three weeks off from Spot in a few months for family reasons. I've never asked for more than three days off at a time. Three weeks seems like a pretty big chunk of time to be away from work, and I haven't accrued enough vacation hours. Should I submit an unpaid time off request or leave of absence?

I'm pretty sure anything longer than 2 weeks would have to be LOA.

I had to request off more than 2 weeks before, and i just used unpaid time off. I had to break it up though, request 10 days off one day, and then the next day i went back in and requested the rest. Of course i talked to HR first and they said it was okay

I believe this is correct....or at least that is what I was always told at least

Unpaid time off does nothing to protect your average hours. LOA keeps your average hours the same after LOA as they were before.
