How okay is this? I've always kinda wanted to record a thing like this before I started working there, but I figured it'd be against some kind of rules or something.

This was clearly approved or produced by Target. The first part of the video has the camera person inside the store before it opened. So it was either a TM or special permission or something to that effect.

We've always been told not to record AND RELEASE any video from within Target. If you record for your own private use, I'm sure it's fine. But Target is all about having control of their own PR, so they probably wouldn't want you disseminating anything that they haven't sanctioned.

Burner account. They serve a purpose.

I know we've taken and posted a couple short clips on Instagram and never heard a thing about it...abd I know that they know our accounts since most of us have the aptl in our sight.

I've been inside other Targets and have actually gotten yelled at for taking photos. I was just taking photos to show other team members and got yelled at by AP or ETLS ( now granted each target could vary) but every one I have been at I have not been able to take one photo unless it has been outside or I suddenly sneaked one in and that goes for other stores too macy's especially I was taking a photo once during the holidays for gift ideas and got yelled at. Stores do not like photos......LOL

Photos sure aren't an issue at our store, guests regularly take pictures of sale signs and such when they think something must be too good to be true and present it to the cashier.

Which is great, it makes it easier to show them the dpci on their item doesn't match the one listed on the item and that it indeed is too good to be true :p

I take pictures of the one thing that would probably get me more in trouble than anything - the electronics backroom. It's left in such an unbelievable wreck for me sometimes I need to take pictures, and then I take another set when I leave. It's nice to have something to show the LOD or my ETL when they come running to me screaming about the closing notes.

My Elec TL started indirectly accusing me of mishandling TVs, so I started taking pictures of how they were loaded onto pallets for me. A 50" TV, screen side down, under five 20+ pound boxes of books? Oh, yeah, that definitely isn't broken.

I've taken pictures of signs to show the guest they are wrong, when they insist on arguing with me..."the sign says 50% off, not buy one get one at 50%" and other such shenanigans. I also do it when I need a dpci but don't have anything to write with.

I take pictures of my finished work sometimes to cover my ass. Also, to show problem areas to ETLs who refuse to leave TMSC.

Yeah you're not supposed to take pictures/videos inside the store, unless you get Manager Approval... Has something to do with one of Target's policies...

Video looks like a Media/Press recording.

My STL was so paranoid about a safe&secure termination that she would take pictures of the alarm pad after she armed it, pictures of the receiving/cash office after she locked it, and video of her locking the doors.

We banned most people from taking pictures and video in the store. Teenagers would come in and take video of pranks or other guests, so we decided it was for the best. If a guest came in and took pictures of merchandise, no problems. Other than that, no.

I take a lot of CYA pictures. Generally new sets, ridiculous qmos/cull mornings, improperly set areas, etc.

My STL encourages it, only because it's saved her from several coachings in the past.

This is 2014 not 2002 anymore people it is A-Okay to be taking pictures and videos in Target. People making fun videos fooling around with stuff on youtube, vine, insta is okay today. Essentially it is like social advertising for Target. Youtube girls doing haul videos of Target stuff is good for Target, making videos and posting them socially showing Target stuff is more advertising for Target.
So you people saying your ETL or AP don't want pictures in Target tell them to wake up and get with the times, seriously.

as long as you are not taking pictures of secure areas of the store such as the AP office, or 239, or things like that than Id say take all the pictures you want.

But there is a difference between "look at the good deals we got" and "hey, let's prank guests!" Like I said, if a guest was taking photos of merchandise I wouldn't care... But if the videos/photos are being taken of other guests or as a prank, that's when I would have a problem with it.

Of course, not all photos are good. Take Brian Sozzi's pictures of Target Canada: http://beluscapitaladvisors.com/2014/01/22/25-new-omg-photos-target-canada/

He's also hit up Kmart, Best Buy, JCPenny, and other retailers too....

I've been fine with guests recording in the store, in most cases. The kids who come in doing scavenger hunts, dares, scout events, etc. are okay by me, as long as they aren't disruptive to other guests or my TMs.

We have some group, scouts or a club or something, that comes in every couple of months and makes total asses of themselves though. Singing at the top of their lungs, doing cartwheels through the store, going up to guests and TMs and asking for pictures, juggling, handstands, etc. I actually had to help AP escort the lot of them out of the store a while back, because of guest complaints.

Their parents were parked in the goddamned fire lane, up against the front of the store, just idling while their unattended 10-13 year old hellspawn ran rampant through the store for half an hour. They were not pleased to see our AP in his blacks and myself escorting their nine precious angels out of the store.

We had an incident a few months back. A guest got lippy with another guest. Guest A asked Guest B to keep it down...I guess the kid was making too much noise? That's before it made it up front and to our attention. Guest B confronted Guest A when they came up front and told them to leave Guest B alone. Guest A whipped out his phone and started recording Guest A and family, "saying smile for the camera." Guest B smacked the phone out of Guest A's hand and told him to quit recording his family.

At this point, I called the cops, under the direction of the LOD, as we watched this all unfold.

Long story short...Guest A was told by the cop he was in the wrong for starting a physical altercation, and he was lucky it didn't go further. Guest A was told to get over himself, and that to expect to have part of his life recorded at some point, and to deal with it. AP determined that while this was provocation and thus grounds to involve the police, especially when it became physical and the threats continued to take it outside, the general rule is that there is no rule against pictures/video recordings on Target property.

It wasn't 2002 when I got yelled at:p It was 2012 ( maybe times have changed since then) and last year and the Macy's thing ( not Target related was circa 2013) and now they specifically have a sign stating no photography allowed. Yup......Different stores different policies you know?? My store wouldn't care I know that much people are always goofing on those ipads in electronics and taking photos. Maybe I just need to back to different targets take some photos and see what happens....... Probably nothing lol

I would like to see a Black Friday opening like this...When people start rushing in, the whole opening team just opens fire with endless rounds of paintballs.

I have seen a Black Friday opening on the live newscast side (2nd employment) of my old Super. It was way too well organized. The only thing interesting was a group of college kids putt up a tent next the front doors and someone selling hot chocolate.

Then I have seen guests get into fights because the reached for the same toy or grabbed the wrong cart.
