    Distribution Center Orientation

And if you are worried about it, you won't be expected to work mando OT for your first several weeks/months. Only once you are capable of running 100% and your trainer/OM is comfortable it, will they put you on the OT list.

    Backlogs

So here, our yard has been round350-450k for like a month now. Warehouse backlog gets jacked up during the week from giant drops, but gets back under control during the A-keys. And as far as auto-combine, we here never really have a need for it, but we can do it in a controlled fashion when our...

    MyTime

LOL, buddy of mine got a 4am-4am shift. Gotta love mytime.

    RIP Autos

Yeah, I'm gonna be shocked if the autos dont start collecting dust here shortly. First shift after the new training, the autos were LOTO'd EIGHT freaking times. And the mechs were least than pleased that they also needed a spotter when they have to work on the autos (which is all the time)

    Archived Bad labels

There's one type of label we occasionally get. It's orange part is lighter, almost manilla-colored. Those bastards are so flimsy and poorly made, that they just LOVE to tear off (or worse, peel off) inside the printer while printing. Had one peel off a few weeks ago while printing and completely...

Archived Final and Reach truck training question

On a side note, if you're RC trained, getting trained on the reach truck is fairly easy, as the control scheme is almost identical. Just go in knowing that the handling is completely different. It's faster, brakes harder, has better acceleration, and turns much tighter than an RC, and it...

    Archived Breakpack drops

Dunno how big ours was, but it was like 50% conveyable BTS/BTC stuff. On top of an already sizeable (130k) warehouse drop. Building is such a cluster right now.

Archived New Safety Policies (PIT, PPE, etc

I think my DC may have been a pilot for some of these? We've had most of these rules for almost two years now. As for backing up with an OP, what they really don't want to see you doing is backing into or out of an aisle.

    Sorting repacks

My guess, if it was an unmarked red repack, was that it came from the IM damage cage at the DC (gauging by the specific items that were in it). When boxes are damaged at the DC, the IM (DC reverse logistics guy) will try to save whatever we can still sell, pack it in a repack, and send it on...

    Archived New Repack Process?

Wait a sec...is to replace the OB sorter? I mean, if so, I'm all for it. We're running a 20+ yr old tilt-tray sorter, so it could probably use an upgrade. I just didn't think HQ would ever pony up the cash for such a huge upgrade.

    Archived ICQA Position

Eh, not quite replacing the IMs, more like supplementing them. The idea is ICQA is proactive to situations, whilst the IM is reactive. But the current QI roles (and likely many of the QI TMs) will be absorbed into ICQA.

    Archived ICQA Position

My understanding of it is, that as a merit TM, you are incapable of OT or flexing. Just like TSS or a clerical, you have a fixed schedule, and can't be told to go onto production. However, I'm guessing this means that can do shift swaps like TSS sometimes does.

    Archived ICQA Position

They're just about to roll it out at my building, with the interviews for the positions starting soon. Going for ~5 ICQA TMs/key. It's a merit position with a similar scale to that of the IM clericals. So where I'm at, that works out to about a start pay in the low 20's/hr with a max top-out...

    Water pallets

Ideally, boxes would be labelled in a manner that would makes leaks a non-issue, fragile boxes would be on top of heavy product, and trailers would be packed tight, with load bars, to prevent freight from shifting. However, it seems in my building (and judging by this thread, perhaps even...

Archived Accommodation for not using forklift

For IB, they'll prob put you in ART, in a non-RC driver capacity, which is to say, there's still plenty to do in the dept. without using an RC.
