Archived Could Target Become An Amazon Asset????

Wal-Mart is huge in comparison to Target, especially since they operate internationally as well. Hard to buy them out as they are well padded from any hostile bids, and still very profitable in their operations. Retail will evolve, as consumer's preference has changed. Amazon dominance in...

Archived College grad internal hire ETL?

The other option is to leave Target to another company and then come reapply back. External experience on top of previous experience can give you more leverage to position and pay. It's risky of course, but it might be worth it for those who see stagnant movement in their store or district.

    Archived Talent Day

Sorry, I never updated my situation! I was benched shortly after the talent day, signed off by store leadership and HRBP. But my intentions was always ETL and not a TL position which I made clear to them. They claimed that ETL positions were limited and advised me to be a TL in the meantime...

    Archived I need advice

Mock interviews can drag on for weeks if they wanted it to. What you need are concrete dates. That's the only way to be sure and to hold accountability in a place where too often I see too little.

    Archived I need advice

Look on the site to see if they have any openings in other Targets around you, and then let your leadership team know. Understand and evaluate if others in the store are already on the bench to become Team Leads as this will affect how long you have to wait even if you make it to the bench. If...

    Archived calling out

Target will just confirm your dates of employment, not provide any more to my knowledge.

    Archived Letter of recommendation?

As far as I know for my district, I was told once I leave the district I would lose my bench status. I'll need to do everything over in another district, and redo the interviews to be on the bench again. And even if I should go through the process and be benched again, I'll be at the bottom of...

    Archived Ridiculous day for backups

Pricing/Plano teams exempted from backup at my store as well. STL/ ETLs and other TLs get on back up if it gets really crazy, even during all hands on deck.

    Archived FY2016

Foot traffic wasn't expected to be strong, and while e-commerce segment did grow at double digits, it's still not enough to offset physical retail ops. What really stood out was their stock repurchase, spending more than half a billion to buy back company shares with an average cost in the...

Archived How much SHOULD each work center make?

Fair and competent management are hard to come by, especially in a system like this, where decisions would need to be made between ETLs with approvals to work center changes. Not to mention, you would have to figure out how to compensate for long-time vets who are experts in their respective...

Archived How much SHOULD each work center make?

So where's the incentive to work and stay loyal to any work center? If the goal now becomes to be proficient in as many work center so you can, to get the pay bump, then stay in a simple work center without having your pay change since you have proved proficiency in other work centers already.

Archived Retail Giant Target Slashes Earnings Estimates For 2H16 Citing "Challenging Environment"

Planning for a long-term growth plan seems to be the big picture they can't get right. Trying to compete with other retailers on a brick and mortar level will eventually bleed the company of its free cash flow, instead, while the company still makes a profit, I believe they should reinvest it...

Archived Retail Giant Target Slashes Earnings Estimates For 2H16 Citing "Challenging Environment"

It's not too late to turn things around if they wanted to. Corporate just needs to re-evaluate company goals and adjust accordingly. But of course, there exists the challenge.

    Archived Etl without college?

Its really going to depend on the location. If the area has a good amount of college graduates, then it'll be expected they want a college grad to fill the position. In areas further away from a healthy supply of grads, they can probably make exceptions to the rule and have ETLs without the degree.

    Archived Temp TL

I knew someone who was placed as a temp TL for a few months, he was basically filling in while they were looking and eventually training a new TL for the position. They gave him TL pay and hours, but eventually demoted him once the official TL took over.
