    New Hire Observations

There's actually useful training in Workday. Check out the Fulfillment training it gives a lot of information in a short amount of time. I was given training by told to complete the Workday training, but not any directions. All my old training was still in the system, and I know the systems...

New store, specifically requested to only be seasonal when I interviewed and besides the people who ask who I am at the door I have far too many people looking to me for answers. New TL, new ETL neither have much experience in flex. It's actually fun working with flex again when I don't have any...

It would be easy to code something like (IF capacity AND floor quantity > 3) OR IF Box Quantity > 4 THEN Pull from floor. That way you’d only pull the items that would be silly to pick from the backroom. I would add a check for the batch quantity if picking a SFS batch but not OPU as I’ve had...

Yup. You're also messing them up if you finish a paused cart for someone else. Or if you finish a "started" subcart location when packing.

The STL was all excited when the productivity metric came out. But really it's a bogus metric if you pay attention to it and encourages inefficient action. Anyone that goes into a paused cart is associated with that cart so you could be picking 5 carts at a fast rate but if you go into a cart...

    Archived Can you stay later?

How about ask, "can you stay for 30 min and finish this flat?" That gives the TM the ability to say this is an unreasonable expectation. The worst is extending a TM past their normal time and expecting improved efficiency or worse yet PDDing them for the unrealistic expectations. If they have...

I use sort if someone is scanning collates out for someone else to pack and there are a bunch of collates left around. It's an easy way to see if it's a reprint or not. That happened one day and about 2/3 of the collates floating around without product were still to get sorted. If someone is...

@Bosch so do you just carry a hip printer with you? I think scanning off my phone is easier personally. Some of it I don't think is cheating the system. Some of it is just teaching how the store thinks.

At least I use Captain when I mean someone I'm mentoring that I'm giving responsibility to and training. Should they get more pay with that responsibility, probably but I've challenged a number of people who fell flat on their face within a week. And honestly a week of pay change is not worth...

@Bosch Ever see the old gameshow Supermarket Sweep? How many times does a contestant go down the wrong aisle when they don't know the store? If the HRETL can't tell you the fastest way to get to the bedding from the garage in Ikea (assuming they never worked at Ikea) what makes them think a new...

@Bosch I saw a local store with 80 hours of work for yesterday's workload and only 20 hours scheduled in SFS. They might be a little in over their heads (At Risk) and Cyber Monday hasn't even happened yet.

What I have LODs, TLs, and captains do (or at least have told them to do) is take a picture of the active carts in ePick and set a timer for 45 min, by that time the carts should be different if they aren't they should get on the walkie to find out who's working on what cart. It works till you...

We had more than our fair share of that too. We had repacks labeled for the unfinish items until we got through all our "previous day's" work load. Then we backstocked everything that was left. If it shows up now it's well after the cart was finished and everything is green. I know that issue...

It's a bad sensor. You can buy some time by unlocking it, manually changing the temperature settings and if the belt is old swapping out the belt as if the sensor runs hot it can burn through the belt, but if it's going to fail it's going to just get worse. The air speed machines are just...

ASANTS last year OPU didn't get filled at all to allow the in store guest to have preference. This year with the new timer for OPU and the radio ads on OPU the preference is given to OPU. Anything left SFS takes in their batches. So it's a super small window for the guests in store.

If picking: Scan the barcode on the product, NOT the shelf label. If you don't know the store the Target app on your device or even your phone will give you a map of the store to help narrow down the location of where the item should be. If packing: Air pillows are not for protection they are...

Archived Killing Black Friday shippers before Black Friday?

The shippers were killed last night and moved to endcaps and the remaining backstocked. The backstock and endcaps were emptied by SFS before the store even opened. Nobody got the game systems, Beats headphones, or the Roomba if they didn't order it as an OPU yesterday.
