    MEGATHREAD 2018-2019 Store Modernization Megathread

Yep. I’ll avoid going to a store even if I know they have what I’m looking for if I expect the checkout experience to be awful. I’ll order it on amazon instead. What was frustrating for me was seeing our best sales floor TMs who would always go the extra mile and help out other work centers...

    MEGATHREAD 2018-2019 Store Modernization Megathread

I don’t think anyone is arguing that the front end isn’t important, or that backup should never be necessary. The front end also shouldn’t feel guilty for receiving adequate payroll. But if my store was anything to go by, GM is woefully lacking in payroll. Most GM TM’s would be fine going up...

Especially when half of them aren't even grocery items

Who recently quit at your store?

Mid shifts everyday was one of the reasons I left. One of the few benefits of retail was extra time during the weekdays to take care of things I needed done. I'd either have whole mornings or whole afternoon/nights. That disappears with mids. You already have my weekends let me keep my time...

    Archived Sidecaps all over market

In my experience vendors will stop trying to push you around if you show them the ISG and that what they are trying to push on you isn't there. But don't treat vendors like shit unless needed. Part of their job is to try and get stores to set up displays for new products/specials, and I've...

This is why I was against them going from a 5 rating system to a 3 rating system. I used to get EXs and once they switched to the new system got DIOs and a lower percentage

Judging by the lack of equipment at my store, I’m surprised the company as a whole even has that many

Archived Market TL at a Pfresh

Biggest advice I can give after being a Food SrTL for 4 years before I left, is know you will always have to fight the other departments/your ETLs on the importance of food safety/freshness and doing those processes thoroughly. They will underestimate how much time it takes and will only care...

    MEGATHREAD 2018-2019 Store Modernization Megathread

Exactly. Why would I want to be a DBO at Target, when I can have the same amount of responsibility elsewhere with a guaranteed 40hrs a week and benefits? The people who don’t need that many hours and want to work less than 20hrs a week don’t want the stress/responsibility being a DBO requires...

Archived The day before the visit.

That happened to a fellow TL at my store. Asked a question about certain priorities and the DTL gave a complete non answer, TL explained that they wanted to make sure their priorities aligned with upper leadership as they would be held accountable. DTL gave the same non-answer then after the...

Archived The day before the visit.

Yup. And the STLs go along with it because the DTL could throw them under the bus to save their own ass. God forbid DTLs accept reality and see how a store is actually running, get feedback from the STL, and then develop ideas to improve At the company I work for now, whenever someone from...

    Archived Spill the beans!

When Target got rid of the VIBE, our DTL told us in a TL meeting and laughed "you guys remember the vibe? what a joke, no one liked the vibe", when 2 months earlier they were harping on about how important the vibe was. I'm predicting a similar thing in a couple years unless Target decides to...

    MEGATHREAD 2018-2019 Store Modernization Megathread

Especially because most people don't think everything about the idea of modernization sucks, it's just that if you bring up how certain parts of it aren't working and could be improved, you're branded as resistant to change, when you are literally suggesting how something can be changed for the...

I had ETLs at my store like that. They wanted entire aisles flexed (active items not just discontinued/clearance), instead of just endcaps/sidecaps. Even if you showed them they were coming in on the truck tomorrow. "If DTL came in and saw outs they would be furious". No matter that they had...

Which Market Pantry foods are actually good?

The only MP item I've had that that was nowhere near the name brand were the granola bars. I usually expect store brand to be not quite as good, but these were world's different lol

And it's not even "a lot of stores" or "many stores", its "some stores". If I went to the doctor for an operation and they told me "we've seen some people make it through it", I'd probably reconsider unless it's life or death.

    MEGATHREAD 2018-2019 Store Modernization Megathread

Flow team came in at 4am (later changed to 6am at some stores) and unloaded and pushed the truck early in the morning before the store was filled with guests. This meant shelves got filled before the store was busy, and there weren’t vehicles all over the place blocking guests when we were...

    MEGATHREAD 2018-2019 Store Modernization Megathread

GSAs are expected to act as “TLs” over the front end and it’s team members though, at least at the store I was at, not to mention closing registers/counting money. To me at least that’s more responsibility than being in Plano/sales floor/etc. (not saying those jobs are easy)
