    Archived Cartwheel help?

technically speaking, in the Cartwheel terms it states that it cannot be transferred - so no, you're not really allowed to share your barcode with a guest (or anyone else). in practice? yeah, I do it all the time, though never without tagging it with an explanation so they can use it themselves...

    Archived GSA rant

I honestly really agree with all your points @SrTLall. I'm purely Starbucks now, I haven't had a GSA shift in months, but when I did, I had MANY, many conversations with my ETL-GE about this subject. unfortunately, I am too socially anxious and awkward to help drive the necessary change in our...

    Archived Good Bye Food Avenue

it's been almost a year since we lost our FA and got our Starbucks. we didn't even keep the soda fountain. we STILL get guests coming in who look around, walk the entire cafe, look behind the counter, and then ask, "...y'all got rid of the popcorn?" yes. yes, we did. have you ever seen a...

Archived What have you broken at Spot?

at my first store when I was backroom, I needed someone's help to get a patio chair off the top of the steel but the only person around was a minor and couldn't use power equipment. so I rode the Wave up and they took a ladder. together, we managed to drop it all the way off to the floor...

Archived Starbucks Opening for a visit

pull the grounds drawer out. behind it, there is a little round key. if you rotate it and pull it out, you can fit two cleaning tablets in it. put it back in, replace the drawer, and hit the rinse button to start the cleaning cycle.

Archived The "Vent about all the crazy shit that happened during your shift" thread

oh, and I forgot to mention - the box was labeled for a ship to store, but to a store that was not ours. actually I think it was a store in New York. I have no clue.

Archived The "Vent about all the crazy shit that happened during your shift" thread

I was covering guest service today while my GSTM was on break. I see two guests coming in with a fairly large box so I jog over and ask how I can help them, to which they reply, "Oh, we don't need help, we're just dropping this off." Then they waltzed out and I never saw them again. So I...

Archived order pickups + gift receipts

we actually just had someone ask about this today. another guest said that she's printed it out after picking up the order before. so maybe it's possible? I haven't tried it myself though.

Archived If you find a gift card.......

not worth it to me. we've had TMs get termed for this because it would be considered theft. gift card history is tracked!

    Archived One Spot

for values of 'having fun with' that mean 'dropping my whole paycheck there,' yes. I'm glad I don't work GS much anymore so I don't get stuck zoning it. it cost me too much money. that being said, I like Bullseye's Playground. it looks so much cleaner and stays so much neater than One Spot ever...

    Archived Target New Cashier Questions

I always say I have fraud-detecting hair. I shaved my head a few months back and started wearing wigs - and even though I've grown my hair back by now, I still wear them, because it's incredibly fun to be able to change my hair color daily. :D I have some in quite unnatural colors - blue...

Archived The "Vent about all the crazy shit that happened during your shift" thread

not really a guest thing, but... we had a guest come in with an online order that must have been a ship from store because she received it with an as-is label still attached. obviously, she was a bit concerned about why the price on the tag was so much lower than the price she'd paid. we...

    Archived CurrentC?

none of your cashiers know how to scan a barcode and do literally nothing else with it? how are guests making purchases?

Archived Your weekly hours and position?

when I was solely a GSA, I was averaging 32-35, split between GSA shifts and service desk shifts. now my primary workcenter is Starbucks, and I'm getting 23-27 hours a week, with mostly short Starbucks shifts and one to two GSA shifts per week. I don't miss the constant GSA shifts, but with such...

Target Boycott Discussion Thread. Discuss your thoughts and how it is effecting your store

we had a local church group call in and state that they were going to start sending in members to fill up carts, walk them to the front of the store, and then leave. because clearly that's an appropriate, not at all childish response. shitty thing is they've actually been doing it. yesterday...

    Archived Welcome to Walmart...

I can kind of agree with this, but absolutely not directly in front of the checklanes. as a GSA, it made my job nearly impossible, because I can't tell who's heading to checkout and who isn't. plus I'm short, so seeing over a mob of people, not great.

    Archived Welcome to Walmart...

yeah, the sign is what really got me most too. the whole idea is kind of cringe-worthy, but at least, like, take a 7x11, print it up, and throw it in a plastic sign holder. then it looks ALMOST classy.

    Archived What's your biggest screw-up?

did this once, to get a Little Tykes car off a top shelf. I'm tiny, there was no way I was going to be able to haul it down a ladder by myself. I got the Wave down the aisle fine but couldn't back it out straight, so I had to jimmy it back little by little, all the way down the aisle. never did...

Archived New to here: Jealousy from coworkers.

I was hired on as a GSA, externally. As you can imagine, a ton of the cashiers were PISSED. We actually did have a cashier/Food Ave TM quit because he got passed over for the promotion. A lot of cashiers didn't want to listen to me or accept my authority because of it. You just have to be the...

    Archived Welcome to Walmart...

So with the rebranding of Bullseye's Playground, salesfloor is supposed to own its clearance, so it's supposed to go to mini seasonal, right? Right. Except when it doesn't. Three carts of this crap, sitting in front of the checklanes. So much for brand.
