    What even are team leads?

A TL is a "Non-Exempt Line Manager" I believe would be the wage determination terminology. An hourly person with direct reports who manages at the ground level.

    Code green during district visit?

Every major visit was a code brown, it's hard to find a bigger pile of bullshit. 🤔 But seriously....had a few code greens during visits in my time and the visitors just went with us.

TL Behaviors - Improvement of Leadership

When the person you are challenging is not an actual leader themselves - they don't have a healthy view of criticism because they are not confident in their own ability. They view any criticism not as an attempt to teach or improve, but as a personal attack. This is one of the key indicators...

TL Behaviors - Improvement of Leadership

People really only want three things out of a leader. - Sincerety - I trust when you speak to me you are doing so from a place of honestly and truth. I trust that when I speak, you are listening. - Transparency - I trust that you will communicate everything relevant as soon as possible and...

    Other closing leads struggling?

Back in my times, they actually did this. They rented a satellite warehouse space - it was one of the best things they could have done. A little logistically challenging with a satellite storage but definitely easier than packing it all into a store.

    New P1 TL needing advice

Based on your previous posts I'm going to make the reasonable assumption that's your leadership is coaching you for not getting things done. Ask them to show you how to succeed. Tell them to send you to a successful store for a week to observe their processes so you can gain an understanding...

I'm losing my team and I don't know what to do.

When you were a TM your TL told you what to do, and you did it. Now as a TL your ETL tells you what to go tell the TMs what to do. There is no leadership here. You are not being a leader - this is why your team is leaving.

I'm losing my team and I don't know what to do.

@CartoonPenguin is that you? Best of luck my dude. Polish up the ol' resume because I have a sneaking suspicion papa's about to get bumped. The pink slip. The stinky boot. The don't-let-the-door-hit-ya if you get my drift.

I'm losing my team and I don't know what to do.

You take over as a new leader. The team is clearly stressed. Your first real leadership perogative (at the behest of your leadership) is to micromanage the shit out of your team. If you were a TM, who has been struggling to finish work, and your new TLs response was to essentially micromanage...

He hasn't written that part of his Target fanfic yet. Gotta wait for S2E3 to come out.

    Losing my patience.

https://www.thebreakroom.org/threads/a-question-about-tl-development.27387/post-630761 I believe I rolled it all together nicely there. TLDR: Target isn't going to develop you as a leader, doing more work isn't leading. If you want to be a leader go lead.

    Self-Evaluations

A little tip for self-reviews. They can be a very useful exercise for self-growth. If you set goals for yourself and then work towards those goals that's a value-added exercise personally. From the Target perspective, not so much. Your review score is an intersection of how much leadership...

    HELP!! Remodel team lead offer

Bruh temp coolers whyyyy. I had a remodel where we had temp coolers - and had to move everything in one night. I blew a ton of payroll to make it happen and came in the next night to find out some contractor blew the electric and the store lost everything.

    SD Compensation Info

I think that any great SD in a retail environment is few and far between, and those great ones probably quashed a lot of shit before it got to their teams - ETLs included. Obviously I generalized, I think there's room for both of our opinions here. In my opinion 100k isn't worth the hassle. I...

    SD Compensation Info

It all rolls down hill, and they're not at the top of the hill, not even close. The good ones shield you from all the nonsense, get burned out and quit. The bad ones drown in it, get burned out and quit. There is no winning as a SD, not a position I would ever take.
