Archived Transitioning from sales floor to GSA. What should I expect?

Definitely ASANTS. I got more than $1 raise going from SFTM to GSA almost two years ago.

    Archived Offered GSA

I had a completely different experience. There was a glitch in the system when I was promoted, and my ETL-GE gave me her number and pin to use the registers until I was keyed as a GSA. I just used her numbers for everything for about a week when on register, except when doing redcards. My entire...

Archived How hard is it to go from GSA to GSTL?

ASANTS. I am a GSA (promoted from SF about a year and a half ago) and I make over $15 an hour. The other GSA's make under $11 though, so I think I'm more the exception.

    Archived Guest Service Closer

Our store is an A++ volume super. We are a 11pm store except for Friday and Saturday, which is midnight. We usually have 2-3 people at service desk at all times from 10am-10pm, and still often need to call for backup to help us. GSA/GSTL are not allowed to back up SD unless the LOD or another...

    Archived Guest Service Closer

Do you guys all wait to tag and bag your ESIM items until the end of the day? We process them as we get them and the CA gets the bin whenever it's full.

PEMDAS isn't appropriate here. Yes, you're correct in what you said.

    Archived GSA Promotion

I saw a "confidential" email from the DTL to the STL/ETL teams a few days ago. It explicitly stated that because all new hires will be starting at the new rate, the store would raise wages accordingly along with yearly merit raises. People really should keep printed emails off of the front lane...

Archived GSTLs/GSAs who can't get REDcards

Do you talk to your cashiers about conversion, benefits of the cards, etc? Do you listen to them talk to guests? If you hear any cashier not educating a guest (not a child or something), it's a teaching moment. We can't coach obviously - but we can say "what stopped you from asking that guest if...

Archived GSTLs/GSAs who can't get REDcards

We didn't do a flat redcard prize system. Without giving my store away, we did something like get 1 card, get x prize get 2 cards, get y prize get 3 cards, get z prize get 4-6 cards, get x+y get 7-9 cards, get y+z get 10+ cards, get x+y+z This was WEEKLY, not daily. People have bad days. Some...

Archived GSTLs/GSAs who can't get REDcards

My store does not expect GSA or GSTL to get redcards because we are never supposed to be on a register, EVER (unless the LOD is watching the front and taking care of breaks/change/guest issues/bathroom checks). Our store coaches the GSA/GSTL if they are scheduled as such and they are on a...

Archived How do you deal with disrespect?

I dealt with this when I received a promotion to GSA from the sales floor. Although I had been at the store for 3 years prior, people were mad that I was suddenly a "supervisor". I had no problems with the sales floor or management (they all embraced my promotion) but the cashiers and service...

    Archived GSTL Responsibilities

ETL-GE does all front end schedules - cashiers, CA, SD, GSA, and GSTL. ETL-GE, GSTL's, and GSA's can all do SAP. HR does nothing for us, and we like it that way.

Archived Stepping down from GSA to Service Desk

I just made the decision to step down from GSA to SD after being a GSA for only 9 months. I'm in grad school and it's too much, and there's very little respect for people's time. Last weekend I worked over 35 hours in 3 days, basically doing a closing shift, and then TWO open to close shifts...

Archived GSA schedule rotation very unfair

We have 3 GSA and 1 GSTL now (one GSTL got promoted). Still, all three GSA's work service desk occasionally, and two of us work c/o (though I'm never scheduled in there). The two GSA's and the GSTL get every other weekend off, but they always open, while I am left closing every weekend.

Archived GSA schedule rotation very unfair

I am not on the rotation, at all. I work every weekend, and I only have one opening shift maybe every two weeks. I close 5 nights a week most weeks. I'm sick of it.

Archived GSA schedule rotation very unfair

No. The same people get the same preference shifts. The option to switch people into different shifts is there in MyTime. Besides, this has been happening since before MyTime was around.

Archived GSA schedule rotation very unfair

It seems as if my store hates me. Relatively new GSA (January-ish). All the GSA, GSTL, and other TL at my store get every other weekend off, and they get a decent mix of opening vs. closing shifts. I did a tally of my shifts. Since April, I have had TWO weekends off (both of which I had...

Archived GSA interviewing for GSTL position

I have a GSTL interview on Monday. I have been a GSA for about 7 months. Another GSA is interviewing, as well as a TM that has cashiered but has no guest services or GSA experience. I have zero clue what to wear. My GSA interviews were basically all done in red and khaki. What kinds of...
