Archived Who else was an internal who promoted?

Target was my first job in High School. I was a TM who had been in every work center in a SuperT, SF TL in college, ETL after graduation for two assignments, now I'm waiting on placement at my own store.

    Archived Becoming a Executive Intern?

I've done some recruiting for Spot and hosted interns, so here's some info. You must be going into your senior year. It's really hard to get a spot as an internal (note, I said hard, not impossible; my market hasn't had an internal make it into the program in 9 years). You need to talk to your...

Changing now to only STL and ETL HR interviewing, the DTL/HRBP are no longer needed.

I was a TM to TL to ETL.

Archived Developed TM signed by DTL, still no position

9 X out of 10 (in my experience ) most districts don't open all of their TL spots. They may have one or two open on Target Careers to bring in externals, but most of the spots are known only to the DTL, HRBP and STLs. Also, applying online just tells your leaders you don't trust them, just my...

Archived Developed TM signed by DTL, still no position

Don't apply online! Honestly, just give it a bit of time. We don't typically see new TLs or even ETLs placed during Q4 unless it's a dire need. If you give it a little bit you'll be ok. Applying for other spots will only stir the pot unnecessarily. I'd also guess they have a spot in mind for...

    Archived Insubordination

Not insubordination. In order to be insubordination, you MUST tell the TM "if you don't do X you WI LL be placed on a cca". This would be a counseling for failure to follow directions. You gave direction and they knowingly went against that. Good luck!

Archived ETL Forced to New Role?

I have seen that if you tell them you don't want something, that is exactly what you'll get. You can turn down a role change, but will shoot yourself in the foot. You'll become the "complainer" and the one who isn't a "team player". Good luck!

    Archived Transferring as an ETL

How far into position are you? Most of the time you have to be at or near your 18 months. Also, you have to be running a green work center. If you want to move groups or regions, you will probably have to do some sort of interview with your new GVP or HRML.

    Archived ETL Offer

I'm going to step out of the conversation. Everyone seems very hell bent that Target sucks. I've seen the good and the bad, but honestly, I'm happy with my role as an ETL. I'm paid a very fair rate for what I'm asked to do. I'm in a broken process ULV, but can work an 8 hr day if I need to...

    Archived ETL Offer

@RetailMgmt you truly control the work life balance. I can say I've never missed out on something that I've wanted. Now, yes it is retail, so wanting to have Thanksgiving, or Christmas Eve off, probably won't happen. But for me, we've created traditions on other days. We do Christmas with the...

    Archived ETL Offer

Around me, if you decline they won't entertain your application again for a while. Spot is one dog that doesn't beg. If you current job isn't stable, is say take a chance at Target, go through the fourth quarter and see what you think. If you don't like it after that, move on. Good luck!

    Archived ETL Offer

@RetailMgmt this isn't true. I can say that Target is driving ETLs to be " business owners" to dive into making sales and driving a great culture. Ideas like the ones above, are from an older model and not one I've dealt with in years.

Archived TL moving to ETL but......

You don't have to be a senior before moving to ETL. How long have you been a TL? If they've only been in role for 8 months they haven't hit their 18 months yet so it'd be rare to move them that quickly. It's not your fault you're ready and they're not.

Archived Unusual Question about Corrective Action

Your HR should have signed off on the form before or was delivered. If they didn't, I would expect the TL and ETL that moved on the CCA without approval will be getting their own talking to soon.

Archived Trying to transition to Electronics TL / jealous coworkers?

Just be careful. If you're just a team member and you are actively writing the schedule (not just having the ETL/TL explain how and why they schedule like they do) you can get some major hot water. I've been there, just ignore them. Kill them with kindness and work your tail off. You'll get...
