    Archived Etl without college?

My ETLS told me that you need a degree, which is a lie. I know. They don't know I know, but j know. I've had other ETLS tell me they were in school when they got promoted to ETL. I was preparing to be an ETL when I had one year left, but I got pregnant and took time off so that pushed my degree...

    Archived performance managing someone out

This. Sometimes I go into a meeting thinking "why the fuck are you so stupid?", other times I'm in between a "I'm going to hate this conversation more than you" and a "I'm really sorry..." It sucks.

    Archived performance managing someone out

If you correctly PDD someone, then you're showing them the correct way to do it, or giving them pointers. If not, you're doing it wrong.

    Archived Coming clean

Are you scheduling people short shifts? 4 hours a piece? On average we have 20 people per truck. Anywhere from 1400-2000. Occasionally we will pull our Plano team in an hour early to help at the tail end of push. And if it's really bad (only once and a while) partner with the SFTLs to do a smart...

    Archived TLs scheduling themselves

I write my own schedule, but it's the same every week. I actually break it out for all the TLs so we are rotating.

    Archived performance managing someone out

I missed the ETL/conflicting tasks part. This does sometimes happen at my store, in which case I confront the other TL/ETL not the TM. I'm not going to hold a TM accountable if they're given an abundance or tasks and unrealistic expectations.

    Archived performance managing someone out

In my opinion... If you aren't doing your job and wasting my payroll you can get out. I love my team and am very understanding. But if you spend half your shift talking at first service, receiving, etc or walking back and forth because you can't manage your time after over a year in the same...

    Archived performance managing someone out

I didn't "coach" someone out... I've had TMs that continued to not meet my expectations after multiple conversations. When it doesn't improve they get put on a CA. Then if you still have to talk to them about similar things (productivity, guest experience, loafing) then it will move to a final...

Archived team leaders and avability questions

I became a TL while still in school full time. Worst decision I ever made. What I would do is let your leadership know your interested. At which point they'll probably help train you.

Archived So how does your store schedule team leads?

I write my own schedule, my TMs schedule, and the TLOD schedule... My ETL tells me what he wants done (i.e something set early) and if he wants any specifics, my HRTM preplans my general team on Sunday's, and I adjust on Wednesdays. As far as the TLODs, I write it similarly to the LOD schedule...

    Archived Promotion on CA?

Unfortunately it's not possible to transfer or promote on a CA for performance... I believe (although I'm not 100%) that a CA for conduct (NCNS) is different. Was it a NCNS or multiple tardies/call outs?

Archived Who is allowed to boss me around?

    This is good to know.

Archived Who is allowed to boss me around?

Haha. I guess. It honestly doesn't happen much. Sometimes around BTS and Xmas. It's definitely not a regular thing. I never really thought about it before.

Archived Team Leader Paygrades - 11 vs. 13

Sorry. I meant they're doing away with PG 11, that's why everyone got bumped up!

Archived Who is allowed to boss me around?

Hmm... Interesting. In my store the AP ETL told us that we can delegate to the AP TM if all their tasks are completed.

Archived Who is allowed to boss me around?

As AP you are still technically a TM... Therefor any TL can give you direction. But again communication is key.

    Archived Question for the PTLs

I have my own office. I'm also a PPTL. I have a bulletin board that I place grids for each day, then assign the POGS to the TM for that day. I have wire baskets above one side of my desk on shelves for each day that has the POGS that are assigned. I also have baskets for POGS awaiting signing...

    Archived Reviews

I've done reviews for 3 years, each year they've been different (different HRs). This year I basically just wrote letters to the TMs saying what they did well and what they need to work on. It went really well. Some took longer than others. I had 13 TMs.

    Archived GSTL RANT

As a TL I interviewed for the internship program. I was accepted. However, after it was too late they discovered that if I did it I would have to give up my TL position. I could always apply when I got done the internship. They also told me not all interns are offered a job position. And that...

Archived So how does your store schedule team leads?

Our TLs are always scheduled under their workcenter. Unless it's a senior on their LOD shift. Or if it's a specialty TL (back room/ PTL) on their TLOD shift. In which case they're under HL/Consumables.
