    Archived Taking a "Leadership" class

I went through the classes. You learn a lot about how Target leadership works. More importantly, the leadership team will start taking you much more seriously and possibly fast track you to get signed off.

    Archived GSA? HR? What?!

Like most have said, go for HR. If they interview for it, highlight your organizational skills, your ability to multitask and prioritize tasks, and how you promote a fast, fun, and friendly work environment. Having knowledge of Excel and Word would help. Targets payroll system is very different...

    Archived Finally GSA

Man. He hasn't even had his first training shift and all of you are already tearing down his new position. Give him a chance to decide how he feels about it for himself and just say congrats for achieving a career goal. It's an accomplishment regardless.

    Bench advice

You're supposed to get a pay increase for being on the bench. Every TM who has been benched in my store over the past few years has received a bump in pay

    Archived I don't know what I'm doing.

I know very little about softlines, but it seems like a solution would be what you mentioned at the beginning: split up the department into even workloads between you and your fellow TL. Every TL needs the freedom to make decisions in their own department, and it's hard to have that when you...

Archived Coming into Target as ETL-HR - tips?

As an HRTM, my advice would be to partner with your HRTM as much as possible. They'll end up saving you a lot of embarrassment and frustration down the road.

    Archived TLs scheduling themselves

That's not right. As the person in charge of overseeing the entire schedule, I will delegate certain workcenters to the TLs who want to have control over their team's schedules, but I will always make their own schedules to avoid favoritism. Your GSA's should take it up with the ETL-HR.

    Archived Locked Out

MyTime automatically counts anything beyond five minutes as being a late punch on the work absence summary report

Service & Engagement What's the point of trying anymore?

If I remember correctly, you were hired around four or five months ago. I know that's a long time to be working in retail, but I'm sure part of the hesitation would be that you're still fairly new in the position. Just a thought.

Archived Being developed for promotion to TL during new hire probation?

Same here. I've had three good performance reviews and a promotion, and I still make as much as a new flow tm.

    Archived pfresh inventory

I feel ya. -10 degrees is -10 degrees, regardless of how well you're protected. And for someone who's used to winters that never go below 55, I struggle in there. More power to you.

Archived choosing target as my intership????

I really don't think that's possible. Maybe someone else will have more insight, but I know that the internship is a paid position where you'll be bouncing around different departments at an assigned store, and you can't do that if you already work at a store. It would be like getting hired at...

Archived Trying To Become A TL

Even if you had your bachelors degree, you still (most likely) would not get an ETL position after 90 days of being a TM. Target almost always looks for people fresh out of college with no Target experience. Those who are internal would be pushed to go through the full process of TM -> TL -> ETL.

Archived Problems with yearly review scores.

Ouch. So you'd have to work around 12 hours to make 1 extra cent. That's rough =/

    Archived Strengths and Opportunities

Strengths: Qmosing bananas, clementines, cantaloupe, squash. Opportunities: Red onions, yellow onions, russet potatoes.
