Archived Who is allowed to boss me around?

I think I saw the answer to this one already, let' see here.... "Until the close of transaction, it's business as usual." There, that oughtta clear up any confusion.

Archived the silliest interview/new tm questions you ever heard

I was a store manager for a different company and we conducted our interviews out of store in a public place. One woman was interviewing when her boyfriend walked up with his arms crossed and just watched her motioning at his watch then walked away, periodically walking by. Another woman...

Archived Who is allowed to boss me around?

The GSTL shouldn't be speaking to you or anyone else like that anyways. They can really get over themselves.

    Archived GroupMe

I figured it were a company-wide norm. ETLs/STLs use it across the store and district all the time. It's more common than Email. Texting occurs a bit too. Some ETLs will text TMs when the Team Member is working if they need to follow up on something, but (hopefully) they all know better...

Archived New Team Leader...Preparing to be hated

Some solutions to a problem don't work in every situation. It would be to the benefit of your store if this formula isn't working, for the STL to take a different approach. Instead of beefing up the resources in the area that is having the problem that is easily measured by time, use the...

Archived New Team Leader...Preparing to be hated

Not to sound callous, but as APTL you can't be the guy that delivers rainbows & bubble gum cupcakes all day everyday. I'm sure you realise this, and this may be part of your concern, but going into a new store with a culture you don't currently know, it may be best to not try to be the guy that...

    Bench advice

The bench in my current store has nearly every time been a failed concept. We have had as many as three Team Members "on the bench" at a time, only to have each one never get promoted and eventually no longer be on the path to being a Team Lead. Of the last nine open Team Lead positions four...

Archived Target GSA vs. Walmart CSM

I need to add to my last post: CSMs were also responsible for terminations. We didn't have the final say on a termination, but we were responsible to deliver the termination if the employee were in our area. We did have the authority to suspend an employee in our area without overhead...

Archived Target GSA vs. Walmart CSM

When I was with Wal-Mart as a CSM we were responsible for scheduling, coaching, reviews, and GSA-type functions. Only CSMs could do money orders. We were also first responders to elevated customer service issues whether it was front end or outlying register related or not. The addition of the...

Archived Team Member refuses to do backup cashiering

Can I just say I love the fact that your handle is "No I in team" and your wrote this post?

Archived How do you deal with disrespect?

You have received a lot of good advice, but I would input that I would talk to the GSTLs in your store sooner than later. You may or may not find out that this cashier has a personal trial-by-fire attitude towards new supervisors, and that it is nothing personal. You will also want everyone in...

Archived Team Member refuses to do backup cashiering

This entire thread is insane to me. I've worked at companies where this is normal, but in my time with Target I haven't come across anything like this. In fact, most people will be first to jump into helping with things. Before anyone asks, I'm incredibly grateful to work where I do now.
