I wasn't allowed to get cross-trained either until after my 90 days I was hired as a cashier. Now I know Cashier, Carts, Guest Service, Food, and Electronics.
Since I do a safety walk every hour, I pretty much memorized the entire store layout. I can tell you where anything is located at, usually within 2 or 3 aisles.
The carts are not your personal trash cans!
I find food containers, popcorn bags, soda cups, open toy packaging, USED DIAPERS!!! Especially the people who buy car seats and leave the old car seat with the box in the cart!
Anytime a big item needs a carry out, me and the person helping with the lift always plays the guessing game wondering if said person will pull up with a big enough car.
Lol I remember pushing a flat to the backroom from guest service and went by the mirror section and for some reason freaked out thinking I was about to crash into another flat only for it to be a reflection of my flat. I looked really dumb for about 5 seconds.
We have someone like that at our store too. Always in a grumpy mood and no one likes to talk to him because he is mad all the time. I'm just assuming he's mad because he is disabled.
I wish cashiers had the power to just enter the birthdate and carry on with the transaction.
Atleast give it to cashiers who have been with spot for a year. So many times when I used to cashier or do backup, I have to ask for an ID and the guest throws a fit(Usually the older people with grey hair)
Say lane 10 has 8 guests in line and lane 12 only has 2 guests in line... GSTL would tell some guests from lane 10 to go to lane 12 so the lines even out and one isn't extremely long while the other is short.
I hate when people come up to me asking if I need help. If I needed help, I would have asked you. I'm just shopping and looking around. To keep service scores, all you have to do is have TMs available. If I'm shopping and I don't have to walk to the other end of the store to find a TM, I...
ETLs do it at my store. Mainly with the drinks.
They would grab a cup in the AM then just keep refilling it throughout the day.
Even AP would ask for a water cup and get soda instead.
I love having shifts at food ave. During my breaks I can grab a soda cup and any food that is damaged(pretzel torn), or guest didn't want(pizza not looking good), we get to eat it or toss it.
Pretty much everyone in my store abuses the soda fountain.
As a cart attendant I have this happen to me every day.
Mostly with TVs. A guest will buy a huge 50 inch tv and pull up in a mini cooper as I look at my fellow cart attendant with that "Does she know she has a small car" look.
I usually try to fit the item if it doesn't fit, I tell them they...
Yeah when I first got my card, I got hit with overdraft fees. But now I keep track of how much I spend, and make sure I always have atleast that amount in my bank account.
I didnt know they all would end up wanting fries and tenders, so by the time the first order was being made, the next guest came up and wanted the same thing, then the next guest wanted the same thing all while the first order was being cooked and we only have 1 oven.
Well the part that sucked was, while I had her fries and tenders cooking in the oven, the next guests wanted fries and tenders also, and the guest after that wanted mac n cheese. So you can see how the time adds and people in the line start getting mad.
