    Archived why target cut hours

I've seen AFTER Christmas. Maybe they were hired prior but sure didn't start prior AND they got preferred hours, many of which they threw on swap shift sheet because they really are only here for the discount (retirees and Moms with small children starting preschool, etc. who really don't WANT...

    Archived ETL rejection email

EXACTLY the same thing went through my head. My very first thought was phony email as whoever wrote it clearly doesn't speak correctly.

To That One Guest - II

I agree to just use a knife. There ARE grape cutters out there though. They're pricey. They act like miniature apple cutters. Waste of money, imo. Wonder how long until someone comes out with tiny and ridiculously expensive jars precut grapes. 🍇

Archived Paternity leave for a non biological parent??

I don't think they'd DARE ask for blood evidence but they might ask for birth certificate with his name on it. That would be reasonable but for two weeks off, I'm not sure you want the potential repercussions of that (i.e.: bio dad won't have to pay child support, etc.). Think carefully about...

Archived Does missing orientation make you non-rehirable???

Don't NS for orientation. I understand anxiety quite well and you need to determine if the anxiety is based on reality or simply fear of the unknown. Put together what's known as a "Ben Franklin List". Two columns. One lists all the valid reasons you feel anxiety, the other the imagined...

    Archived Hitting compliance

They typically don't say anything but keep it in the mental file. When they get irritated about something else they'll bring it up. So just try not to do that anymore. I never thought it a big deal but your TL and ETL both can get in trouble over it. That's when it becomes a big deal for you.

    Archived Watching Self Checkout

You are limited in talking with each Guest as you have to keep your eyes and attention on a lot. So be brief but friendly. They're in SCO to get out fast. On theft you just ask politely if they missed "x" or don't want it. For obvious things you're not AP. Don't confront. Just be friendly...

Archived Should I ask for a raise?

There's no harm in asking. I think it's reasonable. If they say they don't do things like that remind them there's a first for everything. Good luck!

They DO carry a lot of weight and quotas still exist.

Archived Chapter 2: They Didn't Keep Me

I didn't even know there was a 60 day rule. I'd forge right on ahead and try to get hired. I'd notice that kind of fortitude and you'd be on top of my list. 😁

Everyone at my previous store is on the chopping block.

Agree. IMO it's rather hard to focus on being best one can be for Target when focus is on trying to make ends meet on bills and being able to pay them. I don't think that's occurred to Target decision makers. Being distracted due to insufficient money IS huge.

Archived Chapter 2: They Didn't Keep Me

@Shoptilyadrop I agree with @GoodyNN ! And even if they only give you 4 measly hours a week and you have something else you still get the very attractive TM discounts, the 401K after 1,000 hours (they can rack up fast), and the interest bearing Baxter Credit Union checking account and all the...

Archived Using swap board too often

Actually I've noticed a definite trend in that those who put up a lot of hours on swap shift tend to get a lot more hours than those "begging" for hours. This made no sense to me until I also noticed that those shifts are sometimes deleted before filled. Point: Hours budgeted for the store...
