Archived Are some team lead positions easier than others?

I think it's about the person actually. Our current Flow TL is a "beast" (good) when it comes to logistics. She sucked at POG and Salesfloor, but she rocks Log! I was horrible in Hardlines TM, but when it comes to GSTL I can run circles around most. Our HLTL moved to SL several years and is the...

    Archived SrTLs

My store tried the Sr. GSTL thing and it didn't work well. Probably because we already had an ETL-GE who had to be the GE from heaven. All her scores were the top 10 in the company and She trained every new GE in the state. Our GE became GE/SL which is the reason we got a Sr.GSTL in the first...

Great! I looked up the core roles and the HRSDTL position doesn't exist anymore. I guess they have made it one position. Thank you.

HR v. HR S+D What was the difference between the two roles, might I ask? When I had a conversation with my STL the other day she I would technically be "staffing and developing".

Manages Execution I don't know if this will help at all but....Usually people that struggle with manages execution are either 1. not good at planning and then just jump into projects without any type of preparation or 2. great planners that spend too much time over thinking and over...

    Archived advice for gstl position

Interview depends if you're going for GSA or GSTL. GSA has 3-5 situational questions about leadership and team work. 1-2 interviews Think of specific examples where you had to work as a team player or lead a team or process. Usually asks for a specific example instead of general overviews...

Archived The GSTL struggle of development

@Hardlines I make sure they get certified before going in the BR @Isis My STL is the one who decided to put the bottom performers on the CL. He says its better for them there b/c they can keep an eye of them, but then rags on me about guest firsts, etc when they dont come to work or are still...

Archived The GSTL struggle of development

So...here's a bit of an issue. My STL and HR tell us that we should always be training and mentoring at least one person to take our place. The problem I have is when I develop high performing "talent" they take them from the front end and move them to a different department. Every time I get a...

    Archived STL question

@Static Your ENTIRE team used to be GE or GSTLs. Man, thats crazy! Yall store ought to be the super service center of the world LOL. My last STL would just tell us to do whatever makes it right for the guest regardless of how crazy it was. He's currently a successful DTL so hey... My current...

    Archived Curious about coaching

I think the first convo in the office may have been a knock off "seek to understand" and the 2nd was an actual coaching conversation. The first one gave him some great "ammunition" for the 2nd one though either way b/c now he's definitely looking for LWT to be disengaged and not asking.

Archived Tips for coaching FLOW team members on sense of urgency.

Well the common core roles for Be your best self says be fast, fun, and friendly and ask your TL for ways to improve speed, etc so then use that as the basis for the coaching conversation. My HR and STL tells us to give "total performance coaching" so discuss all of their opportunities...
