Well why wouldn't you want some time in a TL role before you decide you even want to be an ETL?

I think that is a smart choice.

But a TL role gives you the opportunity for overtime $$….something an ETL doesn’t get. Maybe start as a TL, prove yourself and then move into an ETL role.

As someone who functions as a GSA, SETL isn't necessarily difficult but if you aren't the right fit, you will struggle. It's not just about being good at guest service. SETL has a lot of moving parts, especially with people and scheduling and it's just not the same as the other leaders duties...

I feel this might be me. I've said no so many times but I know they have hope that someday I will change my mind. Who knows. Right now I need the income from 2 jobs and TL doesn' t pay enough to dump the other one.

Well there are a variety of TL positions. It’s hard to respond without knowing the one you might actually get.

^^ this. My store has had almost a 100% turnover in TLs this past year. And they can't hire anyone (internally or externally) to fill those positions. It's really bad.

Since you are an external hire, just take a bit of time to observe before making any sort of changes. Get to know your team: who pulls their weight, who doesn't. Who is really good on the checklanes, who is good at drive-up, who is your go-to opener/closer. Understand that people have been in...

Yes but no. It’s not the same as just working GS. GSA under old terminology indicated you were functioning as a leader, thus the step up in pay. Modernization did away with the pay raise but many stores still utilize certain TMs as GSAs to fill the gap in coverage.

It’s probably you functioning as a GSA. Different stores use different tags but the gist is the same: you are the leader in charge when GSTL is not there. And there is no difference in pay. Sadly and very irritatingly.

At my store, it's the closing lead and the GSA. Sometimes the TSS too.

My store is in the 30-50 mil/year range. On a daily basis, we do at least 15-20% of our sales from SFS. Add in OPU/DU and that's a good chunk of our sales. And when it gets turned off, it's a big hit. We have 3 pack stations and tbh, the whole SFS is incredibly stressful for everyone.

We already have both of those. So nothing else then?

Not in my store bc Starbucks never closes/opens at the same time as the rest of the store.

@Caliwest SETL in this case refers to the Service and Engagement TL not the ETL.

Isn't that the way it used to be? Back before modernization?
