    Archived CRC Defectives List

Printing this list is actually part of the closing routine for GSAs in my store. We make sure that every yellow defective is accounted for. You can even see which items have been audited (scanning it in LP Audit/Void in the PDA), very handy. We have a common login to access it, ask your...

    Store Paygrades

Photo Lab Assistant and TPS are PG 9. GSAs and Starbucks TMs at my store are PG 7 as well.

    Archived Photo Holiday Hours

First of all, it sounds like there is some confusion as to what variety of lab you are. There are four tiers for payroll. With 12-6pm shifts, it sounds like your lab is a third tier. It seems for some reason they've bumped you up a second tier lab (Congratulations! :)). Usually when they do that...

Archived Photo: Wet Lab machine creating dirty prints

P1 and P2 are replenishment packages, when you reset your chemistry you have to start from scratch and do the chemicals manually. I'm sure you have some stabilizer somewhere, usually its in your stockroom along with the developer starters and the large jugs of bleach.

Archived Photo: Wet Lab machine creating dirty prints

This is also normal, when you start to really pump out prints (especially 4x8 cards which utilize the entire roller) you'll see a reduction in gunk. Its all about how utilized your machine is. Also, from what you are describing your machine is retaining silver. If you are able, take out your...

Archived Photo: Wet Lab machine creating dirty prints

Two things are causing your dirty prints: 1) Your stabilizer is polluted. This is caused by not changing the filters on a regular basis. Change your filters every two weeks, minimum. These things trap dirt that will come up on your prints. Also, I would recommend adding stabilizer starters to...

    Archived Anyone know....

TM to PA (PG03 to PG09) is usually base rate plus $1.00. In my case, it was $8.60 to $9.76. Pretty sure it isn't negotiable, however. If it is, you will have very little wiggle room.

Archived Target to stop processing film

I've been assured my position isn't going anywhere (oddly enough by the DTL). It helps that my lab is freakishly high volume. Also, I'm noticing that you had a completely dry lab, perhaps that had something to do with it? Also, photo assistant (at my store) is PG09

Archived Target to stop processing film

As a current photo lab assistant, I sincerely doubt it. The film processor only really accounted for about 15% of my workload. We still have three-ish printers, two scanners, two kodak picture kiosks, and an APEX order controller to worry about. Not to mention all the ordering I do. Its...

Archived Target to stop processing film

I think I should clarify: photo labs as a whole are not shutting down (unless yours is not profitable). Digital orders can still be printed, we just aren't going to be able to develop film anymore.

Archived Target to stop processing film

The stores in our area abruptly halted their Fuji send out service as well.

Archived Target to stop processing film

I know for certain stores (perhaps even most stores) it makes sense to remove their film processors, but our lab has always been ultra high volume when it comes to film. The day before it was removed i ran 12 rolls, and we had to turn away an additional 14 yesterday when they took it away. At...

Archived Target to stop processing film

So today our Kodak tech came and deactivated our T15 film processor, which means we won't be developing film orders anymore. Since its one of my babies, I nearly died. Apparently its a company wide initiative. Be prepared all ye poor photo souls.

Archived I'm the new Signing Specialist.

I meant only to summarize the whole specialist scandal, didn't necessarily want to derail the topic at hand. Personally, I don't buy the supervisor excuse. As you suggest, I believe it was purely a cost saving measure through and through.

Archived I'm the new Signing Specialist.

Technically, you are correct, brand positions are not specialist positions per se. It used to be that there were entertainment/jewelry/electronics/shoes specialists, but spot gave wrote them out of the org charts because they felt it fostered the belief that some team members were supervisors --...

Archived How much merit does 'top performer' have?

Don't put too much stock in it. I've gotten some free things, but its ultimately something TLs have to do to meet recognition quotas.

For whatever reason, fix it fast normally doesn't take any more than one manufacturer coupon at my store.

    Archived Tps

Depends entirely on your store. When I was hired the minimum wage was only $6.50 yet they started me at $7.50 (pg3). Yes. I was recently promoted to Photo Lab Assistant which is also paygrade 9. I was being paid $8.50, but they bumped me up to $9.76 -- which included my annual review raise of...

    Archived Tps

Its paygrade 9, which is your stores base wage (in my case this is $8.50) plus $1.
