Archived To Ask or Not to Ask...

Not AP, but tps could use a little help. I am beginning to notice that shoplifters are getting to know when the newer tps are being scheduled. I honestly feel like it is a scheduling issue at my store, and I might have a chat with somebody about it. When I did nvi training, other stores had...

Archived How to report empty packages

Huh. Usually TMs just drop them off in a big bin and let guest services sort them out. We're lucky to get an empty package slip. Or maybe someone else isn't doing something right. I swear people just dump things off here and when the bin fills up, they empty it. @Amaazingdude I wish I could...

Archived How to report empty packages

Uh, I work as TPS. In my store, we require that the TM fills out an Empty Package Slip and turn it into either us or guest services. It's usually guest services that deals with those after we are done trying to figure out what happened to it. Might want to check with your AP/TPS/or LOD.

    Archived The Sign Said!

There was this one sale going on that if you buy a specific pack of baby wipes, you get a second pack free. Not a second pack of the same wipes. A second pack of 64-count wipes. So many unhappy guests. If only they'd learn to read the entire thing...

Of course, I know that. I was just implying that I would if I could. :p

    Archived showing my true colors

I actually feel like it's gone down a bit at my store. I don't see as many numbers up on the board as I did when I first got there. As for the TMs and not being able to do anything, if you see something just guest service them to death. Nothing wrong with that. You don't have to be AP/TPS to...

To that one Team Member I - ARCHIVED

To Electronics: You are the only ones that answer the walkie when a guest stops me for something in your area. I try to help when I can; unlocking things, bringing things up to the register, but I feel bad that I end up having to call you all the time. I'm sorry, and I wish I could cross-train...

Archived So I just got called "Target" today for the first time by a guest..

I get called greeter. Guest: "Oh, let's go ask the greeter!" Or "Hey, greeter, can I ask you a question?" My Thoughts: I'm security.... I AM SECURITY. *Blows steam out of my ears* Like, seriously - who the hell get's paid for saying 'hello' and 'good-bye'? People even ask me if I am allowed...

    To that one guest

To that one JACKASS that almost backed into me while I was doing my parking lot patrol. PAY ATTENTION. It was DAYLIGHT outside. I had to wait for the car in front of me to move so I can get through. I know you saw me because you looked right at me before you got in! Way to be a JACKASS. You're...

Archived What do you like/dislike about your ETLs?

My thing is - if you're going to recognize someone for cleaning the floors, why not recognize people that did something really important? I'm usually pretty content with doing what I do, and that's why I work - not to be pat on the back. However, when I walk into the office and there are cards...

Archived Being denied a 15 minute break?

I try to take my 15 minute breaks. Sometimes I get caught up in watching someone, merch protect, or whatever I am being asked to do - I forget about it. Then my feet remind me that I have stood in one place for far too long, and I take one. For my meals, I guess I am lucky that I don't work the...

Archived Receipt Lookup For Electronics during holiday.

I'm a little bit confused, but as TPS I get asked to do receipt look ups and print outs all of the time. I know of a few times where an item did not show up on a receipt (or during look up), but I saw it clearly being scanned when asked to look into it. It happens more often in electronics. You...

Archived To Ask or Not to Ask...

That's what I am doing. Guest servicing a person over and over again. You won't believe some of the random things people come up with. Lol. I just feel like there should be something I can do that doesn't rely on chance. The SR-TPS gets a PMR every shift. He's in control of the shoplifter, but I...

    Archived New to AP

Luckily our PD is near by. My AP-TL has a good working relationship with them. They're always coming into the store for Starbucks, too. My AP-TL has made it known that the PD is on our side. Then again, we live in a small city so maybe our PD isn't as burdened by other things.

Archived To Ask or Not to Ask...

So, as TPS I can't apprehend. Only the SR-TPS and the AP-TL can. I'm on my own quite often in the store because I am usually the opening TPS. I still wear red and khaki, so my presence doesn't really ward off the shoplifters. In fact, I feel like my big fat NEW MEMBER tag and me looking like a...

    Archived New to AP

Be very hands-on during training. Communicate with the team members, because you'll rely on them from time to time. The more you talk to them, the more confident they feel that they can tell you things. Get up to date on shoplifting techniques. Communicate with your AP. There's no such thing...

    Archived PLEASE HELP ME

My training was pretty poor. I read a bunch of crap, trained a bit, then was pushed out on my own. There's still a bunch of crap I get faced with that give me that deer in the headlights look. You're going to learn things hands-on, and mostly on your own. Don't fret, we've all been there and...

Archived Why don't we keep certain products behind glass?

Yeah, I can understand that it might be frustrating for both the TM and the guest to have formula locked up. In Walmart, I waited for twenty minutes once to buy a can of formula. We aren't very fast paced when it comes to my store, so I don't really see a whole lot of formula leaving the store...

Archived Has the Mobile Schedule Ever Been Wrong for You?

Always the wall schedule. Didn't even know about the mobile thing. I've been scheduled/rescheduled without notice once or twice. I can't go wrong with the wall schedule. Employment has gone so high tech since my last civilian job. Lol. Can't keep up with the times.

    Archived Just Hired

As a former Military member myself (Military Police), I got hired quite quickly for TPS, which is the uniformed portion of Assets Protection. Definitely go for AP. I think you'll move up quickly. If not, just get what you can get and work toward it. I hope you get something that does your...
