Archived Does anyone else hate this?

I am surprised to hear that you were so upset at your GSA. Being a GSA myself (who was a cashier and a guest service TM for over 2 years), I understand where both of you were coming from. You are better off asking your GSA to back you up in a situation like that. I know that I am constantly...

    Archived the gentleman's agreement....

You guys all make me chuckle. I hardly ever get a chance to take my break. It's not that I don't want my breaks (I definitely do), but I am a GSA and I don't have anyone available to cover my break at 8:45p when my store is packed and I have 3 cashiers and one reshopper. Nobody has ever said...

Archived Crying at Target .... Good / Bad / ...?

I cried a little after seeing the Boston Bombings on the television in the breakroom, though I would generally see crying as unacceptable. There are certainly circumstances where it is okay to show that you are HUMAN.

Archived Interviewing for GSA soon - I need some advice

I know because of the GSAs in my store that have advanced to GSTL and then to ETL in a rather short time. 2 years for one (GSA to ETL) and 4.5 years for another (TM to ETL). 4.5 years still isn't bad to go from TM to ETL.

Archived Interviewing for GSA soon - I need some advice

I am in this sort of position as well(interviewing to become a GSA). Target seems to take forever to go through the interview processes though, so it can be rather frustrating. Also, I sat down with my STL to go over interview stuff and it seemed to me like it went poorly (mostly because I was...

    Archived When to use EXF

So question about this? I am a GSA at the front lanes and I use EXF to get essentials or to order stuff for endcaps at the front lanes. I know I am using this correctly for ordering essentials but what should I be using to order the stuff for endcaps? For example, we had cereal on an endcap this...

I'm Lost! The Call In/Sick/Late/NCNS/Attendance Thread

That is the same situation at my store. Not only that, I am applying to be the GSA knowing full well that I do not prefer that job over working at Guest Services. I am currently being given two GSA shifts a week but they don't feel like even paying me to do that. I really feel like Spot is...

I'm Lost! The Call In/Sick/Late/NCNS/Attendance Thread

One thing I wanted to say on this topic. Reliable and hard-working TMs DEFINITELY get more hours at my current store. I am one of them and I get 38 hrs every week, even when many other TMs were getting their hours cut during the slow January and February months. I consistently got 38 hours every...

    Archived Cashing out giftcards

As others have stated, it changes varying on where you hail from. Personally, my store allows all GCs to be cashed out when they are less than $10 (according to state law) and our store has a limit of two GCs per day per guest. So you can cash them out but only up to $19.98 each day at the maximum.

    Archived Advice on becoming GSTL

Thanks for the info! Should definitely help me to get my team at GS on the right track.

    Archived Average hours not correct?

Yes, tons of TMs do not qualify for Health Insurance, or nearly any benefits at all really. Like I said, YTD I think for average but maybe somebody else knows how it works for sure that could help us out.

    Archived Advice on becoming GSTL

Oops. Didn't mean to open a can of worms. I didn't realize that so many stores have so many different roles regarding how they use their GSTLs and GSAs. Also of note, GSAs do have to be interviewed at my store. Also, it sounds like some GSAs are just sort of senior cashiers. They basically...

    Archived Average hours not correct?

I am pretty sure I know the answer to this one. Average hours is based on your average weekly hours from January 1st to whatever week you are on. However, when you take time off, even if it's paid vacation they count it as though you didn't work which greatly effects your average hours. I took a...

    Archived Advice on becoming GSTL

I am about to become a GSA but I totally agree. I have been a cashier/Guest Service/Cash office TM for 19 months now and I think the GSA position is terrible. The GSA's at my store have a terribly high turnover rate because their position is so demeaning in that they do the exact same job as the...

Archived Should I explore other opportunities?

My immediate thought was that you should request a transfer as well. You probably have made a lot of friends, but maybe its time to let them go and time to move on to a different Target store where you can have a fresh start with management since it sounds like you are doing a good job.
