Archived Significant cut in weekly hours

Same here. I "own" Bullseye's Playground now (using GM hours) and I went from minimum 30 hours a week literally every week after my training shifts in January (typically 34-38), to 27 hours last week, to 20 hours next week, in the form of five 4 hour shifts. If it happens again I'm dipping out...

Archived New cashier with back issues. Should I go ahead and resign?

Another update, it turns out that I wasn't fired when I thought I was. The schedule was just posted late that week, so online it looked like I had no hours but I did. End of February (the month they said they needed us last few seasonals through) schedule came out, I'm still on it. I requested...

    Archived Watching Self Checkout

What I'm trying to get at is, my store does not give the SCO attendants walkies. At all. I'm not trying to argue, but I just don't know how asking about it would go over since I'm still pretty new and a seasonal (in fact, I'm almost definitely being let go very soon since they told me they let...

    Archived Watching Self Checkout

The point is that I've never been given one, shown one, or directed to use one at all. I don't even know where they're stored. But K.

    Archived Watching Self Checkout

I mean, I don't think that's a thing they do at my store. At all. I have never seen anyone monitoring SCO with a walkie (and there are 5-8 different TMs switching off on SCO duty every time I'm there). So it might be kind of awkward. I've never been taught to use one either.

    Archived Watching Self Checkout

Ah, well, not at my store. I guess the theives will walk then. Thanks

    Archived Watching Self Checkout

Dumb question maybe (probably), but what's the best way to "call AP" from SCO? Just motion to one of the GSA/GSTLs and have them actually call AP?

Archived New cashier with back issues. Should I go ahead and resign?

I don't have an outgoing personality at all, in fact I have the polar opposite. I'm timid, quiet, awkward, and I have severe social anxiety and zero RedCards so far. Go figure. Thank you :) Edit: Also, I didn't get hired for sales floor. I applied for logistics, hardlines, and A&A, and when I...

Archived New cashier with back issues. Should I go ahead and resign?

So the problem may have solved itself. I just checked the new schedule again and realized that although I'm scheduled for the first week, I'm not scheduled at all for the second one. So I'm assuming I'm getting laid off (After a month and 4 days, LOL. But they implied that it would be like this...

Archived New cashier with back issues. Should I go ahead and resign?

I mean, I live in California myself and I haven't seen anything like that posted at my store. The Walmart thing might help me though. I didn't know that.

Archived New cashier with back issues. Should I go ahead and resign?

That's definitely ideal. I'd be happy to take short cashier shifts and respond to backup calls. My only worries are that 1) They won't understand my situation and think I'm just trying to make excuses to get out of cashiering, especially since I don't have an official DX for my back anymore 2)...

Archived New cashier with back issues. Should I go ahead and resign?

That's what I meant by "when a guest needs help". It doesn't happen too often at my store, at least not so far. And I do engage with them as far as greeting them, telling them to have a good day on their way out, and directing them to the registers that are open if they seem confused. All of...

Archived New cashier with back issues. Should I go ahead and resign?

SCO is actually worse for me than lanes. I guess because on the lanes I do move a little, walking around to put bags in carts and moving back and forth in the register area. And I can bend down to get people's $5 giftcards/throw trash away/put hangers in the bin and such so I get some relief. At...

Archived New cashier with back issues. Should I go ahead and resign?

Ever since I was a little kid I've had back pain when standing in one place. More than 15 minutes and the pain starts and steadily increases. It's nothing I have a diagnoses for so I wouldn't be able to get an accommodation for it (I was diagnosed scoliosis when I was younger, but I was...

    Archived Jeans Forever

I started 2 weeks ago and I bought a bunch a few days before the announcement. I keep saying I can still wear them to make myself feel better, but I know I probably never will lol. oh well.

Archived Off the clock or on?

Hi! New seasonal here. I know these are really stupid questions and I apologize in advance. Are things like looking at the paper schedule, signing up to take shifts, and requesting time off in EHR supposed to be done on or off the clock? And if on the clock, when? During our 15s? Thanks. It's...

Archived Got hired, no call for orientation

I got hired on the 21st and my orientation isn't until January 11th (they called me on Thursday). I don't even understand why they're still hiring me since I was hired as seasonal and my interviewer said they usually cut seasonals at the beginning of February. I'm still applying to other jobs...
