Archived From TM to temp-TL to TL, any advice? (Does this work??)

First things first...there is no such thing as a Temporary TL position. If your store is doing this, they are WAAAAYYYY off of best practice. This was done away with a long time ago. As far as moving up, this is not always an easy transition. A lot of people struggle, especially if you have...

    Archived Cleaning house?

TLs can definitely fire tms, but not without going through the CCA process, and partnering with the ETL-HR. They cannot just fire on the spot though. But neither can anyone else in the building.

    Archived Target drops Paula Deen

From a sales standpoint it is not big deal. Or at least not in most markets. From a PR standpoint, I think Target had to make the change. This does not mean I agree or disagree with the decision, but if everyone else is jumping ship, Target cannot afford the bad press. Sales are really bad...

    Archived Just a question

This is a bit of a tricky question. Some of the answer depends on state laws. As far as Target is concerned, it is normal practice to speak with the tm first. They are able to cut shifts, but shoud be giving you some form of notice of the change. If you were not informend and you showed up...

    Archived Eliminating more positions?

I haven't heard anything. It might a more localized thing, or maybe a pilot of some sort. Most significant changes like this happen at the beginning of the year and not into the 2nd quarter.

    Archived max out paygrade

I will try and verify when I go to work today, but I am pretty sure it is in the mid-teens. Probably 15-16ish.

Archived DTL Interview, what should I expect?

They are actually supposed to ask you the questions from Guide C of the TL interview packet. This is a relatively "new" best practice, which means many DTLs do not actually do this. If you have a newer DTL, they might use the packet like they are supposed to. If you have one that has been...

Archived Interview For CTL: Need Help Please

Try and use the SBO method when answering questions: S: Situation. Take a brief few sentences to explain a little situation to set up the answer. B: Behavior. The bulk of your answer should be here. This is where you share your thoughts, actions, who you involved, what you did, why you did...

Archived What would it take for an ETL to be let go?

It sounds like there is a lot more going on then some basic performance issues that you see with most new ETLs. You asked a good question about "keeping the investment". Typically, the answer is "yes", Target wants to keep the investment. There is a lot of time and money spent training tms...

Welcome. Good luck on the move to APTL!

    Archived STL question

Of course the STL should know.how to do a return. It is possible that they get rusty if they are not up.there all the time, but they should have a basic knowledge. Just keep in mind that the STLs role is not to be an expert at all of the tm jobs. I am.certainly not. The role is to hire great...

    Archived Pension Plan

I definitely have the 10 years, but not close to 50. Thanks for the info on the pension. I also thought I'd retire from Target one day, but I just don't see it in the cards.

    Archived Pension Plan

So...I am in the process of interviewing with some other companies and I noticed some talk on a few threads about the pensions being paid out. It couldn't find much concrete info. I would appreciate any insight, or the link to a thread that has some good info.

    Archived Random 1 hour shifts

Agreed. It stinks when leaders get so much pressure that they make bad decisions. I will admit that I even considered this once, but it just didn't seem right when I considered the ramifications for the team. The best thing to do is just fix the culture and fix it the right way.

    Archived Redcards... HELP!

9 registers are down....ahhhhh!!! That is a major issue. Where is your ETL-GE in all this? Where is the DFM? Where is the STL? No way should there ever be that many registers are broken.

    Archived Redcards... HELP!

Is your store doing huddles for the cashiers? If not, this would be good for two reasons...first, all tms are supposed to attend huddle. Second, it give you a chance to train and inform without guests. I would be lying if I said my store is great at this, but when we succeed with these...

It will probably be different for each market. I didn't see anything on workbench today, so I would guess Friday.

    Archived Redcards... HELP!

First, I would say just keeping on pushing the way that you are. At some point the hard work should pay off and the culture at your store will change. That being said, I would look at a few things: 1) Are all of the GSAs performing equally? In other words, does one drive and get a bunch of...
