    Archived Farewell, Target!

Well, after only 9 months as an ETL-AP, I am leaving Target. I feel so free! Hopefully i'll eventually get my soul back and i'll be able to stop talking like a Target robot very, very soon. I didn't get escorted out of the building when i gave notice like some people warned, so i'll be working...

    Archived Ae2014

That's if they have an APTL... The vast majority don't.

    Archived Ae2014

Well that was interesting meeting. Where does Target get these ideas from? Combining ETL-AP/HR... Sounds like a disaster waiting to happen, at least in my group/district.

    Archived ETL hiring process

I wish i had actually heeded their warning... Hopefully i'll get my soul back when i quit (giving notice tomorrow!).

    Archived ETL Work Schedule

You'll be expected to work five 10 hour days per week. Though when there is a lot of work to get done, visits, etc. that can sometimes stretch to 11 or 12 hours. Weekend rotations are every other Saturday and Sunday off, except during the holiday season. You should eventually end up getting a...

    Archived ETL hiring process

I chose to just accept the 51k i was offered and not negotiate, but it's always worth a shot! What they offer depends on a lot of different factors, so you can't trust the internet 100%. During Business College, pay is still bi-weekly and you have to work 47.5 hours in order to get the...

Archived Is traffic at your store down?

We have still been killing sales, just seeing a lot more cash transactions. And red cards are higher than usual, which is doing wonders for our conversion since it isn't prompting at all!

Archived Recent Grad ETL Hiring Process

I think it really depends on the district team. One of our Starbucks TMs just graduated college and was promoted straight to ETL. And another ETL I know in my group used to be a TM, quit, then got re-hired as an ETL. It's possible, i think it just depends on district/group leadership and how...

    Archived ETL Assignments?

I am very much aware of the restructuring going on in AP. However, my group still has APBPs. And APTLs. And ETL-APs in lower risk stores. I have done my homework on the future of AP. Opportunities still exist if you play your cards right, it's just a lot more political these days. So yes it'll...

    Archived ETL Assignments?

Yep! HR, AP, OPS, and LOG are usually second/third assignments. As far as promotions go, it all depends on what you want to do. Everyone's on a succession plan. I have no desire to be an STL, and my HRBP and DTL both know this. For me, if i stay with the company (and that's a big IF) i plan to...

    Archived ETL Assignments?

Assignments will almost always be at different stores, in different positions. There's always the opportunity to transfer if you wanted to relocate somewhere, but it's not mandatory by any means. A lot of ETLs just stay in whatever district they were hired in until they get promoted.

Archived Hearing that most Macy's stores will open at 8pm on Thanksgiving Day...

We were told at our ETL meeting a couple of weeks ago to prepare for an 8pm opening. That's how we're writing the schedule (with split shifts!), and what i'm basing my crowd management plan on. Everyone's convinced it will be 8pm, which means no dinner for me!

    Archived Business Partners Positions

APBP is not going away completely, just eliminating some and combining over multiple districts. I'm losing an amazing APBP, who is taking the severance package and leaving the company instead of taking a position in a store. Can't blame them for leaving, but it sucks. We might be losing our Food...

Archived Being coached for going to dinner with team members.

Me and the other ETLs at my store have gone out to dinner with TMs and TLs. Though this one night when our LOG Sr.TL called out and started drinking and our STL had to stay overnight after closing the store, we all dipped out pretty fast. And we haven't gone out with them since.

Archived ETL Salary Range (Ontario, Canada)

Salary varies based on location. Where i am in the US, average is about 45-50k. I was offered a little more than that and there is a bit of wiggle room to negotiate, but I wouldn't recommend it.

    Archived Length of interview process

For me, it took about a month and a half from first interview to conditional offer. It went: STL #1, assessment, STL #2, DTL, Group HR Manager. Between each step of the process it was about a week, so you should hear something back soon. If not, give whoever your recruiter is a call.

    Archived Hey everyone!

Hi all! I've been with Target for almost 3 months, and i've been lurking here for about 4 months. I figured i might as well say something instead of just being a creeper! I'm an ETL-AP finally leaving my training store and reporting to my store this week (they hired me without an open position...
