Archived (Insert Name) to checklane 5 for cash backup!

The other day I had the ETL-GE call me up to cash twice, only to send me back both times because it wasn't necessary. Like, have you people never shopped elsewhere? Standing in line for a couple of minutes if part of retail. You don't need to open a new register every time you have two people...

    MEGATHREAD Target Talk (Definitions)

Wow. That's allowed in some stores? We have an 11 hour minimum gap between shifts. No TM or TL can be off less than 11 hours between shifts or they get in trouble. Not sure if the same applies to ETLs but my guess is no.

Archived (Insert Name) to checklane 5 for cash backup!

Don't you love when you're the only sales floor team member in your area, one of two for sales floor on the first level of the store (for two level stores) and you hear the sentence that sends a chill up your spine? My store loves to understaff the check lanes and instead relies on sales floor...

    Archived The Sign Said!

"The sign says that this sweater is 50% off." "No. The sign says that the first one is regular price and the second is 50% off." Spend less time arguing with me and more time reading the signs. kthx

Archived Target Could Exit Canada This Year, After $2.1 Billion U.S. In Losses: Analyst

No. I can see stores in smaller markets being shuttered but not the entire company leaving Canada. Looks like people are just going to have to suck it up and accept the fact that Spot is here to stay :)

Archived Being denied a 15 minute break?

I don't know if this is a Canadian thing or not but they are super strict with this whole 2-4-6 thing. 15 minutes 2 hours into your shift, 30 minutes 4 hours in, 15 minutes 5 hours in, etc. If you go more than 5 hours w/o a 30 minute break you go on compliance and are asked why you didn't take...

Archived FLow Team Leaving Their Mess Behind

The problem with Flow is you have the Flow TL barking at them to work faster, finish pushing softlines in an unbelievable amount of time. I work in softlines and you need to constantly remerchandise racks in order to push new product from the truck. Oh, and I also used to work on Flow so I speak...

Archived New Flow TM, first day tomorrow!

I don't understand why people stay at jobs they're miserable at. Y I just find it kind of rude to speak to a different language in front of people who can't understand what you're saying. Clearly everyone working there speaks English or they wouldn't have gotten the job in the first place. I...

Archived New Flow TM, first day tomorrow!

OK so today went much better than I thought it would. Our ETL gave us a rundown on using the PDA, labels, etc. spent some time opening up boxes with a handful of other new hires. Then we pushed some product for a few hours. Pushing SL was the worst. Why are there so many different types of...

Archived New Flow TM, first day tomorrow!

How fast paced can be store be? The bloody thing doesn't even open for another few weeks. I like to think of myself as a quick learner but I can't learn things I've never been shown. Oh well, maybe I'll update this tomorrow afternoon if I manage to get through my shift.

Archived New Flow TM, first day tomorrow!

So tomorrow is my first day on the floor as a Merchandise Flow Team Member at my store. I had orientation a few days ago (which was an excruciating 8 hours of watching slideshows and videos) and 5 more hours of computer "training" (i.e. reading more presentations on a computer) two days after...
