MEGATHREAD Hang Me (The Softlines Thread)

Has anyone else's store decided they needed to have pants hung in a way that all of the hangers are lined up when on a rack, in turn causing the pants to have a lot of slack in the middle? Personally I think it looks terrible but I was told it's "a thing" and we have to do it now.

Archived TL Rules for Outside work relations?

Oh, I know. I was simply telling the OP my personal situation. My store's super lax. TLs friends with TMs, hanging out, dating, hooking up, etc.

Archived TL Rules for Outside work relations?

ASANTS. I'm a TL dating a TM in a different work center.

Would you quit your job if you won the local jackpot?

I would definitely not quit. I love my job so I would just continue on like normal, but with more money in my bank account.

Archived Who is off for thanksgiving

I am even though I always specifically ask to work on Thanksgiving since it's no big deal in my house. All my other days'll be long though, Wednesday 3pm-1am, Black Friday 5am-5pm, and Saturday 7am-5pm so not exactly just chilling either haha

I'm Lost! Any leave of absence horror stories?

Just make sure that you call at least two weeks in advance so you can ensure that you're on the new schedule when you come back. And then keep calling and keep calling and bothering them until you're 100% sure you have hours. You won't get termed. If you're performing fine, your hours won't be...

Archived does your store have self-checkouts?

Mine does. Another in my area has them on either end of the lanes.

Archived Fitting Room Operator (Opening Shift)

Hahaha @Doglover89, if I didn't love my store dearly I would say absolutely :D Sometimes I pick my battles and let it slide, other times I'll literally just stand there until they go back to their zones, lol.

Archived Fitting Room Operator (Opening Shift)

At my store, we do all our own SIM (on the old PDAs this was the app we used, stands for Single Item Markdown, now known as rewrap or repackage, depending on store) and defectives. An alternative for what @Doglover89 said is to first ensure that you are connected to a portable printer with...

Archived Tips on how to set shoes via Visual Adjacency

Sorry, just got home from a rough close. Like POG997 said, the fact tags are the cardstock pieces that go behind the 3x5s. They are not shoe specific, however they have a specific brand logo and gender printed on them, making it easier to distinguish between shoes in the sign holder.

Archived Tips on how to set shoes via Visual Adjacency

I think you are overthinking separating the shoes into sections. What I've been doing (and I've found super easy) is to first set up the fact tags and 3x5s in the order the VA shows. Then, when you're packing out, you can adjust each one depending on the size of the box you just pushed. You'll...

    Archived SMF Shoes Merchandising Flexibility

Hmm, very interesting. Today's the first day out of both transitions that I was given anyone to help other than just to do reshop or boxes. I've gotten to the point where I've been telling my TMs to only use the MyDevice to look for the aisle and find the shoe by the name and not the schematic...

    Archived SMF Shoes Merchandising Flexibility

Just out of curiosity, who in your stores has been completing these transitions? When SMF first set, I did all except for maybe three aisles, including redoing one that overnight completely messed up, and for this new fall transition, I have been doing it all single-handedly, with the exception...

    Archived Social Media Push?

I've never seen any specific Facebook groups for my store, but everyone, TLs and TMs, have each other on Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, etc. I guess maybe we're just a really close store. However, I have seen the Twitters of both the STL and ETLs, and they do tend to post a lot of store-related...

Archived What do you say when going on a break?

The only time I notify someone when I'm going on my breaks is when I'm in the fitting room so that I can get someone to cover. I don't think anyone in the store really notifies each other of going on breaks, except the GSTL when they need coverage and TSC when we need to cover the phones.

    Archived terms across the land

In my store, it's reshop and calling out. We've never used any other terms to describe those two things. In addition, when asking at TSC, we simply say, "can I have a PDA?" and they ask if we'd like a large or small. However, I think we may use a term I've never seen anyone else on here use...
