Archived Black Thursday/Friday 2016 War Stories

apparently there was some sort of bargain video game bin back in our Electronics department that a TM (i don't know who or how many) filled with Final Fantasy XV Day One Edition, which was street dated. The STL authorized two rain checks for the price in the bin (EIGHT DOLLARS) with business...

    Archived Good Bye Food Avenue

Whenever the LOD decides. Hours need to be saved? Ask the closing cafe to just go home and opener is now the closer. We crosstrained some hardlines folks to be cafe, but then they decided they still want them as hardlines, so we have a lot of mornings where a HL TM is scheduled to open cafe and...

    Archived Good Bye Food Avenue

As a Not-Starbucks-Kinda-Person, I'd be distressed if I lost my soda and popcorn area. I'm also big on the chicken tenders they serve. Of course, our hours are also getting slashed so it's kind of moot because the place isn't even open half of the time. I feel like FA wouldn't be in such a hole...

    I'm Lost! The REDCard Thread

Well then I guess I was misinformed when I first started. I thought it was the same "TD bank checks your life blah blah" thing as the credit card when you apply. Guess its not worth the battle.

    I'm Lost! The REDCard Thread

Speaking of delusional ETLs, our GE printed an info sign on every register for the debit card. Not going to post a picture, but the key phrase is "you're not opening anything, just linking an existing debit card to target" which... No?? You are definitely opening something and getting a credit...

Archived What have you broken at Spot?

About two months after we got our SCOs, I was closing them up and rapidly shoved the outside key into the keyhole, the carabiner swung onto the handle as I turned it and the key got stuck in the lock and bent at a ninety degree angle. That's probably my favorite but it didn't break. I also had...

    Archived Anyone else hate vendors?

I work front end so I don't really have to deal with too many vendors. There's one who works jewelry and giftcards who I have a minor crush on. We had a Kellogg's vendor set up an endcap on our checklanes for pumpkin ceral bars and damn, that girl was definitely putting the "nut" in Nutrigrain...

What store do you guys work at?

I'm working at the one that's falling apart in so many different ways.

Archived Does anyone's store ever enforce a late policy?

I once had a cashier show up thirty minutes late and I let it slide until we needed carts, and had him clear the lot without calling for backup. Then I had everyone on walkie say "thanks for being late, [cashier]" Probably the most dastardly I've been as GSA. EDIT: Also, no, it doesn't seem...

Archived Electronics beware, there is a glitch in the matrix

I WISH WE HAD THAT CORPORATE PERSON because I had some primo cock chaff get denied and then call corporate, get a case number, made us call to verify, and then corporate overrode it. My LOD was piiiiissed. I'm still pissed myself.

Archived Have your hours increased or decreased in the past month?

34 hrs 10/2-10/8 but I typically manage to get 30+ a week. I know a lot of my team has been having 10 hour weeks and there's a lot of talk of jumping ship. I really do hope they find something better, because they're just getting the whip cracked harder on their backs because September is a slow...

    Archived Self-Checkouts

Our strategy has been to kneel and sort it on the floor when closing, and then add the money from the cartridges on top of the guests' 1s 5s and 10s and then bundle it up. It helps save some sorting time but facing can still be a small hassle. But yeah, door open and shielding you on one side...

Archived Does the TM Discount + Redcard apply to cards like Steam Cash or Riot Points etc?

Not to contradict here but I'm fairly sure that the redcard DOES take 5% off of prepaids, because we have guests who will buy, like, $400 in disneyland giftcards and save with the RC. I've also gotten a bump buying cards for the Nintendo eShop. Team member discount definitely doesn't apply, though.

    Archived Pricing Tickets?

Alright I'm just gonna describe this menu navigation and what the item was and maybe someone can tell me if this is still possible on a mydevice: So, previously, if you had a PDA and you went to RF Apps, Pricing, and then Ticket, you could scan an item and key in how many you have and get white...

    Archived Ridiculous Red Card "prizes"

My old ETL-GE did that once and it actually motivated me because she was a small tough chick and I'm human garbage who's into that Except she did them after I had to leave so I didn't even see her do them, RIP

    Archived Ridiculous Red Card "prizes"

We do the typical drinks and snacks but I'm getting desperate for new ideas, so today every redcard will get to draw a mustache on one baby in our flyer this week, in addition to the usual prizes

    Archived Everything payroll

I got chewed out by the ETL-LOG for staying roughly 7 minutes after work to hand off with my closing GSA and told to write it in a notebook, which.... fine. But our GSTL will take 15 minutes (already at 40 hours, no less) and we never see him get told to wrap it up or add it to a notebook. Team...

    Archived Self-Checkouts

I've had two different instances of people adding money to their giftcard and charging themselves for it because of the SCO. Like, shit, training the cashiers on that step always has a few hiccups but now we're leaving it up to the guests. Great.
