This is pretty typical of big box retail. So some days we are working with as many team members on the sales floor as a much smaller apparel retailer. Grocery is running on less hours than a grocer. But we do this to protect margins and stay profitable. We can debate all day about how much is...
This is what we do...sell, push truck, sell, push returns, sell, fill, sell, sell, backup, sell, zone, fill, sell. This is really all we’re focused on these days. These are the basics of Target retail.
Hours in February up until around Easter are usually pretty tight. They tend to drop after Easter and then pick up again around the end of school/start of summer. I’m always clear about that with my seasonal hires. We find a lot of great talent during Q4 and I try to keep on as many as I can...
Yeah...that’s how it’s been in my district since I started close to a decade ago...
I’m not saying that my new team members are always getting 100% top notch training, but my expectation is that new hires own their training, the learning mentor guides them, and TLs and ETLs are actively...
It’s the training outline for your first couple of weeks. You should have been covering these topics with your learning mentor and TL. Basically the best practices and things you need to know to be successful at your role. Also would include things like hazmat training specific to your role...
That all wasn’t covered in orientation? The emergency procedures stuff?
Your ETL and TLs are the ones to talk to about getting adequate training. But I can guarantee that you signed a learning plan stating that you knew how to do your job requirements and felt comfortable doing them. Unless...
It's EIT-"insert role" For exec in training. Now STLs in training are STL-IT, which I guess looks better than SIT haha
Welcome to the team! I'm an EIT-HR. I hope your onboarding and training goes well. This is a great place to learn too!
I'm excited, but definitely not what I was expecting to be doing from where I was at back at the beginning of the year. We've had a lot of district and group leadership change and I actually really like all of them. It's been a much more supportive environment. And the offer was well above what...
Probably the couple weeks that we had a Beyoncé only loop circa summer 2011.
My favorite is probably when I realized that Target was playing a Starfucker song in one of their commercials back in 2009 or 2010. But it was a good commercial and I like the song. Rawnald Gregory Erickson the Second...
They can honestly expect you to drive 4 hours a day with no compensation? That's balls. And why are they talking in terms of time and not mileage? A 2 hour drive in Wyoming is not the same distance as a 2 hour drive in the Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex.
It can be a bit tough for shy people, but it can also be a place where you learn to be less shy. Well, less shy when you're at work anyway. Hopefully you have a fun team who all get along. You should be training with a team trainer(s) for the next week or two. You'll do great!
If that's the DTL telling him that, then he would never get hired anyway. If the DTL wanted someone to be an ETL, that person would be an ETL as long as they didn't totally bomb an interview. What that really tells me is that the DTL actually doesn't care for that SrTL that much.
